Hey gents, I played F4 way back in the day but recently decided to get back at it. I spent a couple of days get everything configured using Kolbe DX generator and presto, finally got it squared away. I am now onto learning the commands/key/HOTAS relationships. So i was hoping to shoot a few basic question out there.

What is the purpose for the Paddle Switch and the what happen when It is pressed?

I cant find the command/key-press for cycling the radar on and off (am i missing something here)?

Is there a command to cycle radar modes?

And finally payload weapon cycle? I am guessing that i need to use TMS, but I have not found/figured it out…

      Thanks!

The best refernce is in your docs folder, BMS-1 …. C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Docs\Falcon BMS Manuals\BMS-Dash1.pdf

Around pages 26 & 52 there are diagrams for F16 HOTAS commands.

Radar mode commands (in general) are on the FCR MFD OSBs (wow!! wonder how long that sentence would be if that were all typed out?). … Fire Control Radar, Multi-function Displays, and ?Option Select Buttons?

Not to dissuade you from reading the manual as Agave suggests (it’s a valuable skill) but:

AP Paddle suspends the autopilot while held.
FCR can be powered on and off with the FCR power switch, overridden with the MFD button, or silenced with the RF Quiet switch.
The radar isn’t set up like a loop A-B-C-D-A-B-C-D-etc. it’s more like a tree and each targeting mode has its own preference and method
Again, there’s no all weapons cycle loop. Air to air has shortcuts like long press of the nosewheel switch but Air to ground is via SMS MFD button only.

There are callbacks that can be used in the keystrokes file to cycle AG and AA weapons but they are not realistic. In past versions I remember being able to us the enter key to cycle AA and backspace to cycle AG.

It is better to learn the systems described in the previous posts though so that you know how to use the HOTAS and the other systems that are a part of the MFDs.

I also have memory of someone having a terrible game stopping bug that came about because they used those old callbacks. Learn the F-16, fly the F-16, leave the old toys alone it ain’t worth it.

rgr that… I figured it all out using the Kolbe dx generator setup. It really is the way to go, it is very well done.
