If you want to fly different cockpit. You must change cockpit data files in art/ckptart and ckptartn folders.

Ok I see the folders, I have to download something or just change the locations of the files? you know any guide? also it only changes the cockpit and external model of the plane or it affects the flight model, drag with the air, turning rate, speed etc, because I have read that radar ranges and things like that are actually changed accordingly to the plane.

          Hi,
There’s a handful of aircraft with cockpits already included in the install. They are not perfect, and, with some exceptions, not clickable, but look really nice. These aircraft include F-15, F/A-18, Mirage 2000 in several variants, A-10; those are the ones I know of. In a campaign you have to joint the squadron operating a given type of a/c; you can also make your own TE missions where you pick any aircraft to suit your fancy 😉 If there isn’t a separate pit for the a/c chosen you’ll see the F-16 pit. Just remember that in BMS aircraft other than the Viper are not modelled correctly and you’ll see some deficiencies, especially as regards the flight model. Also their avionics are based on those of the Viper.

Hawx open your favorite plane cockpit.dat and mirage 2000 cockpit.dat file. Copy cockpit main model and wing model parent number and other infos from m2000 to fav. Plane dat file and save…

As far as I understand, this is not the question. He is asking how to fly those airplanes not asking how to mess up the folders 😉

I will try to give him an answer, hope it helps…
You can choose some of the available cockpits other than F16 in campaign, TEs, and dogfights… No need to change anything in the cockpit ar folder, unless you install new modfied aircraft cockpit as for example The F22 for falcon, then you would add some files in the f22 folder… the files are available with all the f22 cockpit files. There are others work too, but do not know if those are already available…
                  Regards Metalhead

Hawx … nothings to do with files or folder manipulation. To fly M2000 or A-10 … Just create a TE mission with the plane of your choice … and fly it. That is all. 🙂

Ok found it! Thank you guys, couldnt find A10 on the list though, so with each update some cockpits and flight models get improved? I have the 6th upadte should I get the last one? I realised that people see you as the plane you selected although you see an F16 and you are limited to that plane weaponry, aircraft top speed/turn/climb rate also changes?

                          • to get to fly the a-10, make sure you join a squadron that deploys A-10’s
                          • yes, update to 7, different versions don’t work well together in multiplayer (did you know there’s an all-in-one installer that installs updates 1-7 in one go?)

The general, standard answer is along the lines of, “BMS is an F-16 study sim, so there should be no expectation that other AC cockpits, avionics, flight models, etc. will be ‘improved’ in any way.”

Some people, I guess, have done some customization, but they are not ‘standard’ in BMS and their correctness, accuracy, availability and multi-player compatibility may vary.

I think what you’re asking is when you fly in a plne other than the F16, is the performance for your aircraft that of the F16, or the AC you are flying? Is that what you’re asking? If so, the stats and performance, and available weapons etc… will be that of the AC you have chosen to fly. If what “you see” is the F16 cockpit inside while you’re flying, that is just the cockpit model being used for that aircraft. It can be changed through add-in mods available from some users, for some aircraft. Not all of the add-ins are fully functional, or as visually appealing as the F16 cockpit, but they can be used with a little practice and some good key maps. But back to your original question (I think), the performance you will experience is based on the type of aircraft you are flying, not how the cockpit appears to you. So if you are flying an A-10, even though you see the same cockpit as the F-16, your performance will reflect an A-10. Engine power, fuel flow, weapon capacity, etc… all will be in accordance with the appropriate DAT file for the A-10.

As far as new cockpits/flight models being released, they are all 3rd party add-on from users, not the BMS team (Except the Flight Model for the F16) so if you want those you will have to do some searching to see if anyone has made one yet.

Hope that was what you were trying to ask.

For online the setup you have must be the same with the other guys. In online squadrons they use the same. That way multiplayer incompatibilities are zero.

For single play you can find and do many things as long as you don’t fubar your install.
