Block 40/42 HUD frame in EMF - anyone tried?
-
You know that we have this nice ‘wide-angle’ HUD frame for Block 40/42 available; it works great with the KTO but tends to cause issues when used with some other theatres. So what’s the story with EMF in this respect?

OK, let me reply to my own post… Just in case anyone else is interested, you can install the Blk 40/42 HUD (I use the version w/o pilot’s legs), but you can select the block in KTO only, in EMF there’ll be graphic glitches in the pit, so you have to give up the idea of selecting the block in EMF (which I’m not going to cry over ) Apart from that, no major conflicts detected (such as CTD’s etc.).
Edit:
@Pops1stVFW: looks like we were typing at the same time Thanks for the reply, I didn’t mention I intended to use the automated installer. The result was as described above. -

@lazystone: Well, honestly, I didn’t think of it and thank you for pointing it out to me… No mods allowed… hmmm… sounds strange with a free product, but who am I to deny or even argue… There are still a number of options open to me… At any rate, in the light of lazystone’s remark the problem has ceased to exist, and I would like to ask a moderator to delete this thread to avoid further confusion.

TommyG, maybe a language thing …. perhaps ‘allowed’ is not the exact right word. Maybe modifications are not ‘supported’ would be better, or modifications are ‘not recommended’.
EMF, iirc, makes some DB changes. It would, I think, be hard for the devs to predict or support the effect of the wide range of modifications available.
Or, maybe the negative effects of some mods are known and the EMF team decided not to ‘allow’ (i.e., make accommodation for) those mods.

I have it installed over the vanilla Falcon BMS 4.32, and separate from my another install containing a number of extra theatres.
Thanks for your input, everyone. Nice you showed some concern. I’ll gladly abandon the idea presented in the original post.
