Need help with delan clip and FaceTrackNoIR
-
The cam is facing straight at me yes, i think mine is slightly offset on my headphones too, one issue i did have is that when i looked up, the bottom led would conflict with the middle one and the tracking would freeze, changing the curve values helped eliminate that issue, as im not physically moving my head as much now. I dont think the leds need to be straight. CL eye test is i think gain, slightly below half, and the others stepped up in a diagonal towards the bottom right corner, will have to check it again & see if i can post a screen shot…
Thanks i’m gona give this a good go- i think what you and JLSPENCER02 brought up will sort it out- havent been playing the game last few days will give it a try. The guy at Delan e-mailed offering to help guide me through setting it up and i’ll take him up on that if i cant sort it myself still.

Guys i almost have it 100% sorted you’ve been great. I just need to figure out how i can zoom in and out as at the moment i cant do it in game and i have to use my mouse wheel, any ideas?
-
enable z-axis within bms (but to be honest here, I’m doing this from memory… maybe it’s another game/program I’m talking about )
-
You mean in advanced setup-TrackIR vector Z axis mode? yea that was already set to Z axis control, unless you meant something else?
-
I think you need to enable the z-axis within BMS as well… I’m at work now so I cannot check my setup, but I hope to remember to do so tonight when I get home.
Glad you got the issue sorted!

Well, not totally. Figured out the Z axis but when i turn my head to look down at my left and right consoles i cant see them totally. Hopefully a bit more tinkering and i’ll get there. I tried tinkering the curves but didnt seem to make any difference, though i guess it just needs more tinkering. What did you guys adjust for in the curves section? were you finding you couldnt look down at your consoles and the head tracking would cut off?
-
Looking at the consoles works fine for me, but it also took me a bit of getting used to the setup. At first, I moved my head way too much but it got better over time, here’s my current curves shaping:
I too had a problem with the mid/bottom leds merging into one at certain positions, but I got it solved by fiddling with the camera position and the mounting of the clip on my headset (right side).
Cheers, Uwe

PS: Here’s my tracker settings:
I’m using the std. ps2 eyecam purchased together with the DelanClip.

Why do you have multiple points for your curves? like for roll and pitch up you have 3 and why does the curve for pitch up go up and then down?
-
Cause it works for me?

I just asked coz i’m unsure of how those curves work. The problem i’m having now is mainly when i want to look behind at the wings of my plane. I turn so far and then the screen starts flickering coz my camera loses track of my LEDs,also same for looking at my left/right consoles. Looking up and down is fine, its just looking to the far left/right and looking down and left/right. I adjusted the position of my clip so the LEDs are pointed more upwards which has helped with tracking my LEDs when looking down and i adjusted position of my camera. I think if i knew how those curves work i could sort it.
For the curves, is the horizontal part going along the the bottom (for input) relative to your actual head movement? with the vertical output relative to how much your head turns in game?
-
Ah, now I get it. Bascially the more “steeply” a curve climbs over a certain x distance, the more movement you’ll get on that axis.
The parts where the curve remains at zero in y for a bit from 0…something in x creates a sort of “snap effect” where you can turn your head a little without the in-game view rotating, basically a “deadzone” if you want to call it that.
So if you want to a curve to “top out” even though you haven’t moved your head all the way to the side, simply adjust the curve so that it hits maximum y value at half x distance (just an example) and vary it in between to your liking.
I hope this makes the curves shaping a bit more clear.

Sorry for being a complete noob but what do you mean by y and x?
The thing also what i really need is how i can turn my head to the left and right less, but actually have my in game head (in the cockpit) turn more.
-
You can click on the curves while the head tracking is running, and see what movement does what as the graphs should move in real time. Sounds like you might have to increase your sensitivity, so your not moving your head that much, but still seeing all around. See my curve values in the other post for some ideas.
Put them here for you.

Thanks guys i have it pretty much sorted now. Couldnt use the Z axis for zooming in and out so just mapped field of view in advanced to my G rotary and works really well whilst looking round with the Delan clip, just had to map range knob to rotary 4 so thats sorted (range knob previously was G rty).
Was weird what happened in the min altitude split S TE just….i had my comms in data cartridge set to Kunsan tower on UHF channel 15 and Kunsan is at STP 7. Go to within 30 miles and requested landing but they told me to call back once 30 miles out…but i was within that. Anyone know why this happened? i like to land at the end of all these TE’s i’ve been doing, and doing it with tower guidance. On this occasion i just landed without guidance, they seemed to think i was too far away.
EDIT: Sorry my fault, didnt set comm 1 to channel 15 with the UFC.

Mastersetter … How did you setup your transitions? Did you use the defaulted values?
-
JL, Transitions? I’m probably using the default settings as i cant remember changing anything to with transitions

Ok Mastersetter… I
