What Time is Sun Set?
-
In BMS. Is it based on a setting somewhere? Does it changed with the season selected?
-
I would like to enjoy this thread, and make a question with a subject which is not really “match” the first question, but….
In the setup BMS graphics, how do I change the season from summer to any other like winter, for example, if this is possible…
Sorry Agave_Blue, I did not want to start a new thread, but as the subject of your post has a little to do with my question…
Blame me, and I can delete this, without been offended at all…

Thanks RD. I don’t remember having seen that manual before.
I did run across this setting in BMS 4.32/7 configuration:
set g_bLocalEnvironmentalDate 1 // Makes the TimeManager use the local system date for environmental lighting calculations
Does this config line have any effect?
-
Yep, it will sync the sunrise / sunset depending of your computer calendar.
-
that’s the explantion of the config line
g_bLocalEnvironmentalDate If set to 0 (Disabled) the reference time for light calculations is day 135 of 2004. If set to 1 (Enabled) the reference time for light calculations is your system time. Available options: 0/1.
I can’t say how and if it influences sunrise and Sunset. It needs testing
I’d say that from a TE builder point of view, it’s better to have it fixed (above option set to 0) so we alwawys know when Sunset/sunrise is.
(if that variable influences)
because my system time isn’t especially the one i fly with (i can fly night mission at 1400 local) and Seasons setting in BMS might not be the same as my current season from my system time
How all that interact together i have no idea?
so i’d rather consider the 0 option has an average - Day 135 2004 should be aroun May 15th, 2004. -
It will only interact with the sunset / sunrise, depending of the calendar. I fly sometimes with this option checked.

This is how I understood it …. it takes my current system date, finds when Sunset is on that date (sunset where, I am not sure; I assume around the 38th parallel, mid-north latitudes.), and if your mission-time occurs at the ‘looked up’ sunset time, then the sun will set.

… Pay attention to MP related issues. This option is (if I remember corectly) not shared in MP. So possible inconsitencies.

Do you recall if it is ONLY local for each player, or if it is host controlled (i.e., if I am the host, BMS sunset will occur at my in-game time)?
-
I think it is only local.
-
Yes Red Dog, I know about that button… thanks for the reply, but in my install of Falcon, that button only shows “summer” and I would like to know how to have the other 3 options available?
Is it possible?

MH,
In Configuration>Setting Hardware, you need to have your Shaders activated. Shader Rendering activated and the other seasons will show up in Setup ingame.

Beer O’ Clock is one hour after Coffee O’ Clock.
You set it earlier by getting up earlier….Thought you knew that, it’s in your personal Configuration file!!! Carry On…lol
