Hi all well in the briefing for my BARCAP it didnt say there was AWACS available but once in the air in the mission, i found there actually was (sentry 1 the callsign) so was wondering if sentry 1 is actually an early warning radar site? coz surely if there is AWACS available then it should say in the briefing.

AWACS was not on station when you briefed, but probably shortly after got on station, and then became available. Its better to check the AirTaskingOrder under Support and look at the PatrolDuration, after joining its flight and looking through the flight plan.

Ah right i see, well no need for the TGP then.

EDIT: Dont know how to do what you said with joining the flight. I clicked on ATO to show all packages and found two AWACS packages in C3I both departing Pusan but one callsign is Challis 1 the other Challis 2, and in my BARCAP it was sentry 1. When highlighting the box to the right of the package it shows its flightplan in black but cant see any other details, am i supposed to get it to show in the box where my frag order is?

Click on the awacs plane so you join it, so your name appears under it. Then click on flightplan and scroll to the station steerpoints.

I’m clicking the expand icon where it shows the plane, its callsign, squadron number and AB and highlighting that but doesnt do anything. The only flights i can join are whats in my 14th FS frag order, and just found out sentry 1 is a JSTARS flight so not proper AWACS. I see they’re mainly for searching for enemy ground forces though it does say they can track aircraft too…

Isn’t there a setting in the initialization settings for AWACS required? Wouldn’t that have something to do with this?

Not sure what you are doing, http://www.as-private.com/RP6-R2/4find.jpg

Join as you would any package and then click on your seat. When done writing the info on your paper, go back and get into your own package and flight.

Do you have the AWACS required box checked in the BMS config folder (found under campaign settings) of your install? If not you will have AWACS assist even when none are airborne. Don’t know if it matters having UHF set to tower or Ch. 13 but I usually talk to AWACS after switching to 13.

Thanks man figured it out, before i wasnt right clicking the package which came up with the option to join…after clicking that their relative squadron frag order appears. This is awesome, its great to be bale to see all flights so now i can find out who will be in the air when i take off. Looking at both JSTAR and AWACS packages, sentry 1 is the first to be airborne out of all of them so explains why they’re my AWACS and they take off at 8:02 which explains why in my briefing they dont mention AWACS being available as they’re not yet in the air…where texaco 1 (a tanker) is already in the air.

Ok but this is really weird. Its got in my BARCAP briefing for support, Texaco 1 the tanker…but their take off time is 8:20, thats even later than when the two AWACS flights take off which is 8:16 and 8:18 so no idea why it doesnt mention those in the briefing, yet it mentions the tanker thats’ taking off later and isnt relevant as i wouldnt be needing it…

EDIT: Having looked at their respective flight plans, Texaco 1 is based at Kunsan and the AWACS flights (Challis 1 and 2) are based at Pusan which is quite a bit further away so guess that explains it.
