Good evening hope someone could help me with an issue I am having

When I am seat 2, 3 or 4 within my package I am selecting dmd with my left mfd to setup the data link.

When I do this I then select IFF in to send my position to the rest of the flight. For some reason they see me for the next ten seconds or so and then I disappear again until I push the IFF button again.

However when in cont mode it continues to send my location automatically and i stay visable in the hsd…

What could be causing this please ?

      Thanks

      Tank

        Sounds normal.

In DMD, you either get a momentary link, or, one AC in the flight must be on CONT. For instance, #1 is CONT and #2, #3 & #4 are DMD. #1 pushes the ‘IFF Out’ and the whole flight is continuously (CONT) updated.

If no one has set a CONT update, then you only see AC for a short time when you press IFF Out.

In a package only one AC needs to be CONT (and initiate IFF Out), all others on DMD for continuous updates. Each AC will be limited to a total of 8 data link slots (7, excluding own ship). So, in a 5-flight, 20-ship package, I might have, for example, 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, and 5-1. That is, my flight (1) and the lead of each of the other flights.

Also, you MUST have the data link host (the AC on CONT) in one of your data link slots.

Thanks for this answer, appreciate how fast you got back to me…

I am definetly in dmd as 2,3 or 4 however when selecting dmd mode I have to continually press the IFF out to keep appearing on the had to my package. Is this right?

Should it be the case I just select DMD and that’s it…

Only if, 1.) another AC in your package is on CONT and has initiated data link by IFF Out, and, 2.) you have the data link address for that AC on your data link page.

If you are in DMD you do not need to push IFF. Only 1 has to be in continuous and push IFF one time and one time only. All others just stay in DMD and do NOT press IFF.
