GPU and VIS mode
-
Hi!
Today I noticed that I can use e.g. a GPU-38 with the VIS mode, instead of PRE.
I could move the square over the HUD and I could see the place on the ground in TGP.
After dropping the bomb, it hit the ground where the square shows to.
So far so good…But is it possible to use TGP also?
E. g. I couldn’t SOI the TGP and so I wasn’t able to adjust the TGP view…Does someone has an advice to proper use the VIS mode? And is it possible in VIS mode to use also the TGP to improve the direction of the square?
TIA

bomb will hit the SPI.
SPI can be set by the HUD (VIS), TGP, FCR or just the Nav systemso you can use any of those to target your IAM of choice.

Sounds good, but I wasn’t able to get TGP for SOI…, so no slewing, no WIDE / NARROW, no ZOOM.

DMS down moves SOI between MFDs.
then you can slew it around. (make sure you are in AG mode naturally) -

Vis mode is Visible = HUD
In VIS mode HUD is SOi
Want to use the TGP, then it’s not VIS more anymore. Use PRE -
If you want to handoff between visual mode and the TGP, you could make a HUD markpoint, then use that as your initial SPI for PRE mode, right?
-
It will be faster to slew the TGP marker onto whatever you wanted to handoff instead of bothering with the VIS mark a the firstplace, but yeah, you can.

I don’t think you can use TGP in VIS JDAM delivery… or maybe you can I have no idea. However, you absolutely can use TGP in PRE JDAM delivery!
