Brand new player, some trouble setting up
-
Hi all,
I’m brand new to the sim and don’t seem able to create a new pilot. When I click “New” in Logbook, nothing happens. I can change the name of the pilot OK, select a squadron and add a password, but I cannot change the callsign from “Viper”.
Also, I am using a Saitek X-55 and Pro pedals, I can configure them to the proper axes but it never saves the configuration changes I make. It’s always goofed up when I exit and reenter the sim.
Thanks for your help!
I was impressed enough with 4.32 but 4.33 looks absolutely amazing. Looks like I found this sim at the right time

Concerning the X-55, under the setup tab, are you setting the “controller” to joystick? It won’t work if you have it set to throttle.

I set up each one individually; that is, first I select “Controllers” in Setup, and select “Pro Flight Rudder Pedals” in the drop down list under “Controller”. On the SETUP screen, I click the “Advanced” button under the key assignment table. Then I click the “Flight Control” button at the top of the next screen. Rudder axis is usually defaulted to “Keyboard”. I change this to Rudder, and the toe brakes seem to be set automatically. I click OK, I click APPLY and then OK back on the Setup screen. If I go back into SETUP, it’ll still be OK, until I set up my next controller, for example the Throttle. Once I select "Throttle’ from the dropdown window, if I go back to check the settings of my Rudder, they will be lost and set back to “Keyboard”.

Set your controller setting to Joystick. Once you change it, do not change ever…leave it Joystick. Program all your buttons accordingly. But remember, do not change it from Joystick…ever.

I’m having a very similar problem. If I set the controller option to “stick” I am unable to assign the x and y axis on the stick to roll and pitch in the advanced flight control options. Those axis settings are locked on roll and pitch trim. The only way I can adjust all settings is if I set the controller option to throttle. The problem there is I can then not set my stick buttons or POV and the settings are never saved anyway. Very frustrating. Is this a Rhino issue or just a HOTAS issue in general? I do not recall having this difficulty with 4.32.

Dracfalcon’s suggestion worked for me. (Thank you, D!)
I select only the stick in the Controller drop down, then go to then Advnaced tab and set up all three controllers. My Roll, Pitch and Yaw trim are set to Keyboard for now.
Roll and Pitch Deadzone are set to the X and Y axes of the stick.
I wish I knew why I cannot start a New Pilot with a Callsign of my choice. I’m using Windows 10, could that somehow be the problem?
