Is it possible or hardcoded or is there somewhere a file to set the VOF to like 160 degrees or so?

Or do i need three monitors for it?

      thanks in advance

        Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Config

        edit falcon bms.cfg

        find this line:

        set g_fDefaultFOV 75

change “75” to whatever you want. I think max is 180 last i tried.

Hi! If you are asking what i am thinking you must:

          open the folders: falcon BMS/User/config

open the file “falcon bms” with notepad and
find the line “set g_fDefaultFOV 60”, after this type the FOV
that you want (set g_fDefaultFOV 160), save and play.

EDIT: ops, OldGoat5 arrived earlier 🙂

          cheers

It depends on your resolution, monitor size, and how far away you sit.

For an arms length away, resolution 2560x1440, and 27 inch monitor, i use 75.

There are calculators out there to calculate what field of view you need to get real-life scale, but you need really big screen if you want to sit a normal distance away. For example, me sitting 7 inches away from my monitor, the correct value was 58 degrees. This was very small, but when used, the sense of speed was very high when looking sideways. Also, the air mass drift of the jet was more noticeable. But too small for formations and dogfighting, so I just went to 75.

A bms dev posted a picture of what it looks like to look forward in the real f16, it mostly matches what you see with 75 degree fov. Maybe 70 or 65 is closer.

                  From here: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?7801-TripleHead2Go-and-BMS

                  @Arty:

Edit 28/1/2013: As of Update 4 changed the viewlimit_pitch_down value to 70, as I suggest later on in this post, there is no more need to do so. Have in mind though that this change was done to default F-16 Korea models, for ITO u will have to edit the files, also the same must apply for M2K.

                  So let’s start.
                  You want this?

                  [http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3/thanosc/BMS TH2G/2011-12-03_075518.jpg](http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3/thanosc/BMS TH2G/2011-12-03_075518.jpg)

Now after that you get a very narrow FOV in game and also you can’t see all the switches in the left and right panels (down view).

(The settings bellow apply to my resolution 3840x1024. If you have higher resolution maybe an increase to the values should be considered )

So to fix this you have to:

                  1. Open falcon bms.cfg under the folder C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Config. Notepad will do just fine for the job.

                  find
                  set g_fDefaultFOV
                  and set it to
                  set g_fDefaultFOV 120

                  also find
                  set g_fMaximumFOV
                  and set it to
                  set g_fMaximumFOV 120

                  2. Open all the .dat files of the 3d pit planes you fly and increase the viewlimit_pitch_down value.

                  The file name is 3dckpit.dat
                  The cockpit folders are in:
                  C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Art\ckptart

                  Like:
                  C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Art\ckptart\F-16C-50
                  C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Art\ckptart\F-16C-52

You have to do this for all the folders or at least for all the models you wish to fly.

Now those are the day pit’s there are and the night pits… They are located under the folder:
                  C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Art\ckptartn

once again do the same for all of them.

Now you are ready Go Fly and Enjoy all of it’s Majesty and Glory.

Thanx BMS team I was expecting this for long long time… Words can’t express my gratitude.

Well it’s not for 3 monitor only it could be one in 4k for instance.

                        Also for 4K 😄

                        What will change then?

Default vertical view is 75 degrees when your resolution is higher and your FieldOfView is the same is like you zoom in. That is what will change. So you need to change both.
If you don’t and use trackir or whatever and you look down you will not be able to view some switches.
