As most of you have noticed, 4.33 comes with a new tool, Avionics Configurator (ACfg in short).

      1/ What is ACfg ?

This allows you to change avionics settings of aircrafts, primarily F-16. Typical example : Green vs colored MFDs, RWR type, gun modes availables…
To do that, ACfg changes the content of .dat in the Data/Sim/Acdata folder.
You can either make changes to F-16 variants in the default mode, or load a particular aircraft FM file that you want to modify.

      2/ Should I use ACfg ?

For the majority of users, not really. Default avionics settings are already a good representation of each variant.

However, some experts in F-16 might want to model a different era for a particular variant, or a particular squadron who did or didnt receive a particular upgrade, etc. This tool is for them 😉

ACfg do not change cockpits, and a few avionics changes can rely on particular cockpits, like RWRs. If you change a ALR-56M for a Carapace, for example, RWR buttons wont correspond well in the pit.
3/ What shoud I be aware of when using ACfg ?

As said above, ACfg changes FM .dat files in the Acdata folder. This will be of no consequences for the average simmer.

However : an option to check the content of the Acdata folder in Multiplayer has been added to the Configuration tool. This option, meant for Hosts, is off by default. Should it be on, this Acdata check will FAIL if host and client do not have the same ACDATA files, and connection will be denied.

-> Consequently, if this Acdata check is enabled, Host and Client should have the same ACfg settings.

This Acdata check option is meant for PvP Competition events, to make sure that players dont try to tweak their FM files in their install to gain an unfair avantage. Again, it is off by default, but be aware that it exists when using ACfg.

As a result, if there is a chance that you will be joining such a server, it is recommended to either make a backup of your Data/Sim/ACDATA folder before doing changes in ACfg, or, if you only wishes to modify F-16, to save a ACfg profile.

For the host of such an event, it would be wise to make the participants aware of what ACDATA configuration is required. It might be a good idea to share either a backup of the ACDATA folder or a ACfg profile, and even more so if particular avionics changes are required for this event.

4/ I played around with ACfg and wish to return to the default configuration, can I ?

For that, you can apply the default profile, for F-16s, provided here :

That will return your F-16s to the default 4.33.0 configuration.
If you modified another AC, the best thing is to ask for a default .dat of this AC.

Additionally, there exists an option in ACfg to return the values modifiable in ACfg to the default harcoded set of values for all aircraft selected. Edit -> Set Default, then Menu -> Apply Profile. But this set of values is generic and does not match what is present in the 4.33 install. As an example : the default RWR is the ALR-56, but not all F-16 in the 4.33 install have the ALR-56.

Is there a tool so for multiplayer clients to adopt server settings and then revert back to user settings?
        I don’t think so.
So which files should be passed along for MP stability as the settings are too much to just spot the issue?
Probably the profile feature could save the day? so which file is the profile and where it’s saved? So along the ini file for mp this file should be passed along for mp.

In case a theater has it’s own simdata folder what happens then? the config sees which folder?

For MP, if the sever want to impose a configuration other than the default one, he must share an AVC config files (or a sim data directory).

User should save his own profile to be able to reload it after.

To get back to default, under AVC, set the “default” profile then apply.

Again, the ACDATA check is OFF by default. So by default, you can perfectly have client and host with different avionics settings.

If a PvP organizer wants to change F-16 settings and have the ACDATA check enabled, he should indeed save a profile with ACfg, share it with the people attending the event. They will then load and apply the profile with ACfg.

ACfg only changes the default ACDATA folder, so it wont affect other theaters with their own Simdata folder.

                  This is admittedly subjective, but…
I don’t know if it’s the ACfQ or a new model for 4.33, but I set it up for Block 52 with the Pratt Whitney motor, and the jet was decidedly “peppier” then 4.32

Yes, just switch to single FM file mode from default F16 mode and open and edit corresponding FM file, save and done.

For me, HUD is too large (Falcon BMS 4.33). I’m using TIR. Is there a way to reduce font size or something similar, because for example, I doesn’t see any data until I totally do not get close to the HUD glass, and about AMRAAM circle not to speak.

Also I can’t find the button for “Next Steerpoint”. Earlier it was the “S”. There are only options via ICP.

Keypad + and - change waypoint if you use default keyfile. (Those are for icp up/down arrow)

Try to center track ir when zoom / hud is ok , Looks like you zoom your view somehow wrong way 😄

Someone with better English will help you more.

F12 is default key for centering TIR. Hit it when you’re on normal position in your chair. Set default fow on bms to what you like.
There is also option on falcon bms TIR page where you can change how your head position againts screen is acting. Fow or head position.

Keypad + and- are not default keys to change steerpoint and you must change those in bms configs if you like those to work like in f4 and allied force.

As most of you have noticed, 4.33 comes with a new tool, Avionics Configurator (ACfg in short).
For that, you can apply the default profile, for F-16s, provided here :

That will return your F-16s to the default 4.33.0 configuration.
If you modified another AC, the best thing is to ask for a default .dat of this AC.

Is there a chance for a 4.34 upload of this? 🙂
