In TE1 Ground Ops, my CNI is Backup and my UHF is Man and UHF preset 6. I change the 5 knobs to 2 9 2 3 00, but the ICP Comm1 shows UHF ON, BACKUP, 6, but it doesn’t show the 292.3. It still has the original frequency.

i don’t see a problem… if you want to use UFC(icp-ded) swich the CNI knob from Backup to UFC…
don’t expect the DED/UFC to show you the freq that u entered in the backup panel

I know about using UFC with the CNI knob turned to UFC. But that’s already documented in 4.32. The new 4.33 training manual on page 11, Ramp Start 1st sweep, Step 4, describes the ability to use the UHF backup knobs, and that’s what I’m referring to that is not working.

Using the UHF B/U head be sure to change the frequency selector (bottom right) from PRE to MAN otherwise the manual frequency dials won’t do jack. In previous 4.32 the presets were matched to your DTC (even though it wasn’t a DTC function it was mirrored like the crew chief manually programmed your A/N ARC-186 before you got there). I haven’t thuroughly tested lately to see if a custom freq say on U15 for tower could be selected as the B/U UHF PRE 15 and still work (did before).

Also make sure you are tuning the correct digit knobs. The first knob is the A-1-2-3 knob for the 2XX.XXMHz range. There’s an illumination error in the cockpit art which can cause you to accidentally be shifted by one digit.

              It works for me:

and if I change the BUP manual frequency to 306.8, then my Ded shows UHF ON / BACKUP, 6, 306.8

              You are not in Manual.
You report using MAN but there is no MAN option. There is a MAIN option on the left knob. That may be your problem
For MaNuaL frequency to be active you must use the right knob out of PRESET to MNL

              Dash-1 p24

The left mode knob has 4 positions but only 3 are used in BMS: OFF, MAIN & BOTH. ADF is not supported. In OFF the backup UHF is not powered.
In MAIN, and as long as the COMM1 power switch on the AUDIO1 panel is ON, the UHF radio operates on the selected preset channel (displayed above on the 2 digit display) or in manual mode.
In BOTH the radio works as in MAIN but can also receive transmissions on the UHF GUARD frequency. Note, receive only!

The right mode functions knob has three positions: MNL, PRESET and GUARD.
MNL prioritises the manual frequency. In PRESET the frequency is determined by the channel knob and indicated by the 2 digit display. In GRD the main receiver and transmitter are automatically tuned to the UHF guard frequency.

I didn’t realize the DED reports the BU UHF radio info, that rocks.

Yep. ANd that’s also a great way to know the BUP presets frequency if need be, as they are displayed on the DED while in BUP
(in 4.32 that’s how you could request chocks and hotpit refuel while on BUP as some of the hardcoded BUP freqs were valid tower frequencies)

As you said, “That may be your problem.” Exactly, that was my problem. Along with your new Spotlight and your insightful advice, I can see clearly now that the label on the Backup UHF panel is Main, not Man. Now it works for me, too. I’ll join the BMS Falcon pilots from the whole world to say thanks for ALL of the monumental results you produced for all of us.
