Hi, firstly I would like to thank all of the BMS team members for bringing us such awesome improvement for our beloved flight sim!

I’ve read Kolbe’s docs a while ago in search of the option to modifiy the input from my POV hat so I could use it as a TMS/DMS/CMS/radar cursor or whatever depending on what “modify key” I would depress while moving the hat (I have simple HOTAS with single POV hat - thrustmaster flight hotas x, don’t laugh :().

For instance hat+SHIFT would work as a TMS, hat+CTRL would work as a DMS, hat+ALT would work as CMS and so on… From what I understood you can modify the function for POV hat with other DX input (without definition in a .key file POV hat works as a view switcher by default). So the keyboard keys can’t inluence the function of POV hat? I can use the hat with oher keys as modifiers in Strike Fighters series or Lock On series and would love to be able to use it in Falcon like that. Is there any hope for me, is it doable with small code change, or do I have to invest in some proper flight stick and throttle?

Please, help me BMS devs, you are my only hope… 😉

input module needs some love, no doubt about it, but it will take time. (3-4 falcon weeks probably).

so for now, it does not support “global modifier” like you describe.

the only option you have it to use an external tool, to program the stick to send the correct keyboard command on the combo you want. but that is also quite limited.

so unfortunately here is nothing to be done at the moment I’m afraid. (unless someone here has an uber creative idea)

sry for stealing the thread , I’ve gotta an idea too

Can you try to implement also modifiers for the main stick itself ? like replace for microstick axis

So SOI could be interacted with with modifier + stick itself , dunno , like shifted stick…

I’am aware that maybe it could be hacked with dx shifting + vjoy or some other approach… but this would be sticked in the code

            Thanks

@Damson : What you want is totally doable, but you have to use an external tool, like JoyToKey, for example. If you don’t, you can program only one “shift” button on the stick or the throttle in the keyfile (which is enough, IMHO. I used to use Joy2Key to have more “shift” buttons on my own T. Flight HOTAS X, but I have found out one is enough to get all the functions you really need right on the HOTAS).
NB : Don’t be afraid, if you really need something like Joy2Key for your own chosen setup. It’s not really difficult to use.

@ewildcat: Yes I know that I can use one of the joystick buttons as a modifier but I wanted keyboard solution with more key modifiers to use single POV hat as multiple hat switches (TMS,DMS,CMS,radar cursor). I might try the Joy2Key solution you mentioned, but prefer if these functions are embedded into the game in the first place so I don’t have to use additional software while running the game.

Well, then as written before it’s impossible in the game as of now.
