Dog Fight Mode Question
-
Hi Guys,
So had a Mig-29 in close after he juked two 120s, and couldn’t get into dogfight mode. I’d hit the DF switch and it would flash what looked like the DF symbology for a second then reverted back to TWS. I even tried the keyboard key “D” and didn’t work either (although have DF and MRM keys programmed to my TM WH).
After a successful BARCAP with two MIG-29s and a Mig-23 downed by me (Ace setting), I checked the manual real quick and couldn’t find anything really in-depth about it. Page-129 references holding the TMS down for a few seconds for various ACM modes - does this get me into a DF mode?
Thanks in advance,
DrDetroit

No, TMS changes the ACM radar modes (azimuth and/or bar) while in a particular AA Master Mode.
It sounds like the DF/MRM Override Cancel is on somewhere in the keyfile, so as soon as ‘enter’ DF, it cancels. Do you see the same behaviour in MRM …. that it cancels immediately?

Yes, I have MRM mapped on my throttle as well and it’s blinks on real quick and then nothing. Same behavior as DF. I have the cancel button mapped too…maybe a conflict. They are all on the same 4 way switch/hat on my throttle (where the thumb kind of rests above the airbrake slider - don’t remember the switch numbers). Will dig deeper tomorrow.

In the configuration, turn off Dogfight mode self cancels.
