Game Host vs. Mission Host: 2D / 3D?
-
Hi there,
Thanks to the excitement about 4.33 I am just getting back into it, diggin through the manual.
I understand, the one hosting a game via Comms is refered to as the (initial) game host. Clients then connect to the game host in the Comms tab. The one that then loads a Campaign or TE becomes the mission host. Mission host and game host can be the same, but dont have to be. (BMS 4.33 Manual, P87, 2)
So if I were to use one PC in my LAN as dedicated server, this PC would host the game and all clients would then connect to it’s IP address. Commonly this PC also would load the campaign and therefore become also mission host.
Is it still neccessary for the mission host to enter 3D world? If so, it would have to commit first and stay in 3D until the last client has left. I’d like the server to stay in the map UI and use it as Awacs station….
In short: Lets shade some light on the terms game host vs mission host vs game server whatever, so it becomes clear what means what and what makes the differences.
Second, is it still neccessary for the mission host to stay in 3D for the whole mission duration? The manual gives a brief recommendation on page 203, chapter 10.5.1, point 7, but gives no reasoning behind it.
Thanx!

To my understanding nothing changed for the host - server. Has to enter the 3d world.
