Crash on mission end
-
@oho:
Crash appears often (not always) after exiting campaign mission, also in 32-bit version, also when it is the first mission after launching the game.
For me it helped to deleted the .avi-files from Data\Movies. Have you tried that?

I am having the same issue in 64 bit. Game crashes to desktop trying to exit a mission. In 32 bit, as soon as I try to taxi, the jet explodes in place. I am running no mods. This is new behavior since update 3. Getting frustrated. I’ve tried deleting the acmi (which I don’t use), the briefing file, and the dx9 file. Nothing is working. All of my crashes are on single player campaign.

That or people that run the 64 bit version of BMS also need to verify that they are running the 64 bit version of ffdshow as well. I found out the hard way that installing the 32 bit ffdshow and running 64 bit BMS will cause a crash or hang when it tries to play a video. Moving or deleting the movie files also does the trick as you suggest since there is nothing to play so it skips it.

I haven’t tried moving the video files yet, but can try this evening. The campaign start videos work for me though, and the game crashes after even my first campaign mission. Would a video attempt to play even after the very first mission early on day 1?
I had been trying to fly with a TGP without carrying LGBs. I read somewhere on earlier versions that caused issues. Any chance that is still a problem?

Shouldn’t at the end of the first mission no. That would mean your problem probably lies elsewhere but it definitely won’t hurt to move those files to a temp directory somewhere to test it just in case.

Not sure where you heard that one but 99% of my flights are flown with a TGP without LGBs with no issues. Been doing that since 4.32.

I’ll try the video thing tonight. I’m reading that Windows 10 creators update is causing game crashes, and also nvidia drivers have been causing memory leaks. I’ll look into both of those as well. I’m running the gtx 1070 and have 32 gigs of ram, so I really shouldn’t be having issues with either, but I’ll check.

Not sure why it would have been causing crashes on the first mission, but moving the video files to a temp folder seems to have worked for me. 4 sorties in, and so far no crashes. Maybe I was doing so awesome, that I won the campaign after the first flight!

So, it’s crashing again on mission exit. It seems to be when it tried to switch from the 3D cockpit to the 2D UI. Every 2-3 flights. I exit bms after each flight and restart. Seems that the only thing that works is to delete the dx9 file and start again. It’s annoying though, because I lose credit for every second or third sortie. It’s getting old having to refly them all the time.

To early to tell if it’s a permanent fix, but I wiped my display drivers with DDC and performed a clean install with nbidia. Only two test flights so far, but both worked. I still have the videos removed from the video folder as well.

Well, that didn’t do it. BMS crashed on exit again. Seems to happen every 2 to 3 flights. The only thing that seems to work is deleting the dx9 file every time. It’s a total pain. When it crashes, it also doesn’t leave a crashlog, so I can’t even see what’s up. Hoping for a fix in U4. Until then, I may give up on playing. It happens in single player campaign, I’ve already deleted the movies, there doesn’t seem to be a reason for this. I’m running windows 10, and bms 4.33U3. Very frustrated.
