Hotas Cougar Control Panel can't find my Cougar in Win10
-
Due too my upgrade to 4.33, I got problems starting it in 64 bit mode in Win7:(.
My solution was to upgrade to Win10, but then I got problems configuring my Cougar. I also have pedals and MFD’s.
What I see in this forum, it’s recommended to use HOTAS Cougar Control Panel if you want to use Dunc_DX file, but when I start it I get this message:
“The device is not connected, unrecognized or not properly installed. ERROR 14, unable to write to device”
In Thrustmaster Control Panel - HOTAS Cougar Viewer, everything seem to function on stick, throttle and pedals. All switches, stick and throttle react.
Tried to plug out and in, remove pedal etc etc, but can’t get control panel to find my Cougar.
In 4.33 setup, when I load the Dunc_DX file, nothing happens, so I’m down to configuring all switches on stick, throttle and MFD’s. The BMS FULL file is not giving any pre assigned switches either.
Do anyone knows anything about this problem, and do anyone got a tip for me? If not, Hotas Cougar for sale… -
I maybe mistaken, but I think your only option is to downgrade to win7 again if you want to “properly” configure the cougar with BMS 4.33. A friend of mine is having the exact same problem after updating to win10 (“because he could”, not because there were any other pressing issues requiring him to upgrade), but hopefully someone else can come up with a better suggestion as you’d probably have to re-install win7 from scratch.

After reading all post on Cougar forum, I conclude that many have some kind of problem, regarding using Win7, Win8 or Win10. I will not go back to Win7, because then I have to use 32-bit version and will not get MFD video on my 4.monitor. May be a new clean install of Win7 will help, I don’t know, but will not try.
After reading the most about Hotas Cougar last night I downloaded T.A.R.G.E.T from Thrustmaster. Will try to remove all Hotas Cougar software, disconnect stick and MFD’s, and install T.A.R.G.E.T. tonight. Reconnect and pray that this will will solve my problem.
Will keep all informed about progress. -

If you follow the other thread “4.33 crashes in 64bit” I think some folks are getting closer to a solution or at least are finding some common denominators causing the crashes in 64bit.

Ok, got T.A.R.G.E.T in, everything nice, also took the Dunc profile in the game but my radar cursor went bananas.
All other switches behave nice, so this T.A.R.G.E.T vs Win10 problem that I see in other threads is a dammed thing. So, back to Hotas Cougar Control Panel then, but another day… Hope I get my CCP to find my Cougar. -
did u do a hw reset for the cougar?

@MLU:
How do I do a hardware reset?
Okay, it’s flashing new firmware. Terrifying, did it once some years ago, took me weeks to get it working again…

Are you using the 64-bit drivers package for the Cougar in W10?

Yes, I do, but see next post.

Okay, then I have done this!
I have 4 monitors, one with 2 MFD’s. Now running Win10 and using MFD Extractor to get video on my MFD’s and other instruments.
To get my Cougar to work I have installed Cougar Control Panel (CCP) again, and using automatic calibration. Tried manual, but my radar cursor did’t go the full range. Automatic works well. I have Profile <none>, push Apply everytime I start CCP i admin modus, turn on Emulation. In game I tried to put in Dunc file, but something happened with switches between stick and MFD’s. Programmed all switches in game again, saved the file and viola, radar cursor is all OK. Followed the game setup in Dunc’s cougar DX guide.
Pretty happy now, only a problem to get Balkan installed.
Update, Balkan installed, happy days…</none>
