      In order to easily switch into and out of Dogfight and MRM modes, I’d like to use the mode slider switch on my Saitek X-65F TQS.

      Can I, via the SST software, program the appropriate keypresses simply by shifting the mode switch (keypress ‘d’ when activating Mode 1, ‘c’ when activating Mode 2, and ‘m’ when activating Mode 3)?

        yep, but it messes with the profile a little, so after you save it, you likely will not be able to edit it and save it again. So in practice, you need to make the keyfile in one go or it doesnt work.

        To do it, you need to assign advanced commands to each of the mode switch positions in the SST. You will also need to disable dogfight and missile override self cancelling from the BMS configuration editor in the launcher.

          So if you go to Mode 4 to activate MRM Override, and then want to go back to Mode 1 (normal mastermode), you’re sequence would be

          Mode 3 - Cancel (MRM in this instance)

          Mode 2 - Dogfight

          Mode 1 - NOT normal mastermode… still in dogfight, right???

            I have one position (Mode 1 I think, guessing from the modes since I’m not at my Falcon computer) unprogrammed in both SST and the .key and so then Mode 2 is a “D” with press and release (I always advance program my Saitek key commands for a press and release and have since the X36 days so it may not be 100% needed with their modern software), Mode 2 is “C” press and release for cancel master mode, and Mode 4 is “M” press and release for MRM mode.

              this thread might be somewhat helpful https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?22676-Saitek-X65F-and-windows-10
              I could get the desired performance (single M C D) only with a certain driver and with Win7

                Hello, do you know if it is possible to do same but with X52?, I mean, to send a keystroke each time I change mode. I would like to begin in “Mode 2” and to activate “Dogfight” when I change to “Mode1” and so on.
                Thanks in advance.

                  Yes. And it should be programmable in the BMS UI. Or, if you must, via the Saitek SST profiler software. Consider this tip by Frederf:

                  @Agave_Blue:

                  Why is the Mode Switch set up this way?

                  Frederf made me do it. Possibly the most useful ‘HOTAS Mode Management’ tip I’ve ever read:

                  @Agave_Blue:

                  @Frederf:

                  …. Consider flying the entire ingress in MRM override with AG master underneath. Then drop out of MRM to do your AG work and switch back to MRM (or even dogfight) every time a weapon is released as you recover. …

                  …. So, NAV/AG in the middle position, MRM/AA in the lower position and DF override in the upper position. Fly typical ingress/egress in MRM; Flip to NAV/AG as needed. Brilliant! …

                  This is how it looks in my keyfile (yours may vary as the button assignments in the X52 and X52 Pro aren’t identical):

                  SimSelectMRMOverride 27 -1 -2 0 0x0 -1 …. (Med Range Missile Override)
                  SimDeselectOverride 28 -1 -2 0 0x0 -1 …(Override cancel - ‘Normal’ mode)
                  SimSelectSRMOverride 29 -1 -2 0 0x0 -1 …(Dogfight Mode)

                  The point for you is: Each switch position is a separate ‘button’ as far as BMS is concerned.

                    I started this thread quite a while ago, and yesterday decided to tackle the issue again.

                    First, I perused the online programming manual and found out that I needed to switch Views to ‘grid,’ so I loaded the .pr0 file I had been using and made the switch. Attached to the grid is a single column grid with various actions. The line “Click to select shift buttons” was already filled in with the four modes. In the "Click to add shift command (Optional) line I programmed ‘d’ for Mode 2, ‘c’ for Mode 3, and ‘m’ for Mode 4. In the “Click to select fallback shiftstate (Optional)” line I made sure ‘Mode 1’ was selected for them. The line “Click to name shiftstate” is a no-brainer.

                    Finally, I saved the .pr0 file under a different name, leaving the original unmodified.

                    I gave it a quick tryout when I was done, and it appears to be working properly. I’ll give it a more thorough test when I start A-A training.
