Double Resolution Cockpit Display not there??
-
Hey All,
I was looking in the Configurator for the “Double Display Resolution Cockpit Display” but it seems it is not there anymore in 4.33?? Was this moved somewhere else or omitted??

You can find it if you directly open the falcon bms.cfg file. Check in the “Misc Settings (not available in the Config.exe)” list. It’s checked by default.

Yeah and I tried to disable it because that was a great source of FPS for me in 4.32.
I found with 4.33 this doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.
Oh well, I also have upgraded my gfx card somewhen in between, so I can’t be even sure about the reason.
However, with my current config and BMS 4.33 I found that it makes virtually no difference if I use perpixel oder pervertex lighting or enable / disable double display resolution. Same is true for VSYNC on vs off or AA/Aniso ingame vs. driver.
So I just skipped fiddling with those settings and just keep it as it is.Greets

Previous discussion for reference:
The main concern for the implementation historically was that older GPUs might not have enough VRAM to cope with the double resolution displays. As you know, all displays are textures, so by doubling the resolution, we quadrupled the memory need to create those textures. So: the only reason to revert to the older (half) resolution setting would be: “I only have a tiny tiny amount of VRAM on my integrated GPU and BMS always crashes on me”. Otherwise, no point in disabling it at all.
See also BMS Manual p232.

Well it was set to #1 but it still looks as if the MFD’s are lower rez?? I will poke through the BMS Manual but I thought it would not be mentioned there
