2 Instant Action and Training Questions
-
I have read the manuals (and still digesting them) and watched several instructional videos. I am using Instant action to simply work out kinks and try out certain procedures.
In IA:
I go to Boresight an uncaged, fully powered up AGM65G and cannot move the Boresight pointer in HUD (as seen in videos), although the seeker head moves with the cursor. Am I missing something here?
In Training:
I am up to the Flameout landing session. I cannot get the tower to answer although I have freq in correctly, on back up and Com1 to man. Is this simply an glitch?
Thank you for any assistance.

it’s the backup UHF panel you need to manage, not COM1.
Ensute BUP is set to manual and osan frequency entered not through the channel knob but the manual frequency dials -
The HUD cross is just there for reference and never moves. This is correct.
CNI B/U, B/U UHF function manual frequency, correct frequency set should work. Make sure you’ve put the correct digits in the right windows. The hundreds of MHz window is not illuminated due to a graphical bug and has options A-2-3. I’ve seen people dial in 29.23 instead of 292.3 Mhz by mistake.

Im guessing most videos detailing the AGM-65s in BORE mode probably date back to 4.32 behavior, when the BORE cross did move around in the HUD. Correct behavior is that the BORE cross just exists to give you a heads up that it is in BORE mode.

Successfully dialing in 29.23 would be impressive. I know I spent quite some time trying to, but I was stymied by the fact that 3 is not a valid option for the last place. 2, 5, 7 and 0 are the only valid options (being quarter steps, of XXX.X25, XXX.X50, XXX.X75, and XXX.X00).

Thank you all for your responses. I see the Boresight has changed. As for the Tower calls, I did put the freq into the back up UHF input at 308.8 (freq given in training session, along with changing from UPC to Backup and putting the coms dial on Manual). I’ll keep trying on this point.

Try it with a fully functional jet (e.g. TR #2, Navigation). This way you can still double check what the BUP radio is set to through the DED. I had no problem B/U UHF manual 292.300 and contacting Kunsan when close.

I got it working! Thanks
