I have done DTOS once, one attempt, one hit, so it seems easy enough to use, but I didn’t understand how I should judge the right time to pull up from the shallow dive.

Is it just a question of getting a good visual on it, and then pulling up, or is there something more concrete to be considered?

Been a while since I’ve thought about DTOS but considerations that come to mind are frag range of the weapon you’re using (might wanna stay out of that) and potentially any specific short range threat’s range.

DTOS is just HUD-designated CCRP so imagine you were bombing a steerpoint CCRP and act accordingly.

            I’m still unclear on this.

In the GP training mission I’m entering a shallow 20-25 degree dive onto the target just as I reach IP2. I designate the target with TMS up … and though I can pull up and release the weapons I’m not clear how I can explain why I’m picking that moment for pull up.

I was releasing at 10 degrees of nose down pitch in my last attempt, so is time to release the factor to look for? X number of seconds? It feels like I’m missing an important piece of information.

It’s sort of a game of chicken. The closer you get the more accurate but the more exposed. If you wanted some specific dive-toss delivery you’d do it by some precalculated numbers like X angle at Y altitude which would fix your relative position. But with some familiarity it’s not hard to eyeball when to break level or whatever. The ballistics of typical slick weapons get very familiar and predictable.

                That makes sense. Thanks.
