Can't have TGP as SOI when there's no munitions remaining?

Hmmm, that’s interesting. There were some photos here: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?6747-This-day-discovery&p=323014&viewfull=1#post323014
That seem to have gone away, but if you read the subsequent posts about what the load out was on the jet, it seems pretty clear that they were equipped with Mavericks operating in Afghanistan. I’m not an expert by any means, so maybe there’s another explanation for this?
They are apparently still using AGM-65’s, but probably only laser-guided models.
E.g. the AGM-65L can be seen on this picture, coming from this thread.

Just going back to my OP, I still can’t switch SOI to TGP when all AG munitions are spent in AG mode. The OP was never about slaving mavs to TGP! I wish for it, but I know BMS can’t do it.
It’s simply that TGP can’t be used to visually ID targets for wingies to hit when I’m winchester, which is annoying.
I know this is an old thread, but it happened to me again recently after picking BMS back up after a spell away.
Think it works in Nav mode - put the FCR to GM - havent done it for a while am getting my A kicked in Iron Fortress Strong (AKA Instant Action with 6 Missiles)

Asharpe, your replying to a comment from 3 years ago.
But, posts are so much more interesting then the dates they were posted on.

I guess I can’t argue that kind of logic. :wfish:

I can think of a few :
- Mavericks lifetime coming to an end, so best to use the weapons instead of having to dispose of them ;
- pretty well adapted to moving vehiules- can be fired easily from every aspect, no need to pay attention to attack heading like a Pav II,
- low risk of collaterals. Shaped charge is pretty directionnal and has low effectiveness on infantry/civilians standing around,
- pretty adapted to strong buildings/bunkers too, less risky than a mk82-based bomb.
Disadvantages includes :
- low effectiveness against infantry in the open,
- limited time of use in-flight due to the cooling requirements (1h total, 30 min continuous max ),
- need to be aligned in-flight for ease of use with SPI mechanisation - basically, the missile points slightly off the SPI because of pylon mount, seeker imprecision, whatever.
Seeker limitations and cooling are probably gone with the LGM variant, hence its use.
