      Is there a way to turn off the light green circle around the hud it makes it difficult for me to read the hud even at full brightness against the horizon even when using a different color. If I go to hud only there is no issue.

            3993.dds is the texture for that circle. But a better option is to make the HUD glass a little darker for more contrast which is bottom left of 8005.dds because the green circle is not the issue with the horizon washout. You’ll still get it but you can try.

              Go here:

              C:\Falcon BMS 4.33\Data\Art\ckptart\

              Select and enter the folder corresponding to the viper model you want to change, e.g. F-16CM-50 for the USAF block 50, then open 3dckpit.dat with notepad and scroll down to the middle, line ~75. Delete these 3 line statements:

              hudview_tint_color 50000000;
              hud_projector_glow_color 00006000;
              hud_projector_glow_size 1.0;

              Now save the file and go fly. You need to do this manually for any other birds too.

                ty. For that color value it is RGBA in hex I assume with the alpha ignored or is the alpha used? I see that alpha is 00 so I assume not used. If so then I could just change it to 00000000 and it would be gone I assume. Also which directory is the f/a-18. This is only a big issue so far during a carrier landing.

                  If you have problem with HUD reading, try to reduce your screen contrast just a little bit …

                    When I press the AA button on the ICP I can toggle the green circle on and off on the HUD. When I push the left HOTAS to MML mode the green circle appears and stays on even when I try to change position of the HOTAS button to neutral or Dog Fight. This is occurring in the Navigation training mission. I cannot find a command to reset the HUD to nav. The ICP NAV keyboard command is not working and the ICP return has no effect.

                      You’re speaking of the AIM-9 (or heaters in general) circle in the HUD, they speak, to be more precise, of the green disk or halo filling the HUD vision.

                        I guess you have mapped the MRM and DGFT override modes to a switch with several positions on your HOTAS? Have you tried the “DGFT/MRM self-cancel” setting in the BMS configurator available from the launcher?

                        If you like to cancel the override modes with a simple keypress, press “C”. It’s the default keystroke to cancel back to NAV from MRM or DGFT override mode.

                          Just turn the hud off, and put it on a MFD.

                          Does the HMCS still function ?

                            instead of editing files or whatever, just switch you HUd into night mode and crank up the brightness,at night using NVG turn the brightness mostly all the way down. simple fix.
