      A simple question…
Do you use it or not?

Started using the detent for the first time and I must say it feels strange in dogfights.
Is it something useful that just needs time to get used to or foget bout it?

Are you talking about the physical detent that I removed when I first started using the Warthog all those years ago and had allmost forgotten about it ???

I flew for a short time without it but put it back into place as I like the solid stop at the MIL to AB point for fuel management. My .02

I’m a big fan of the detent as well. Sure, it takes done getting used to if you haven’t used it before, but soon you’ll just use it like second nature. It’s up to you and what you find more comfortable. That’s the beauty of desktop simulation.

Agree. I wish I had one built into my X55 throttle versus having to improvise one.

I like having the physical stop but not the up and over action so I filed the detent edge down a bit for a push over instead.

My main concern is the out of plain movement of pulling to pass the detent.
I found out yesterday that DF with the detent active is quite challenging, to say the least.
On the other hand…it should help a lot with fuel managemnt and in differentiating between the afterburner stage and the regular stage.
Still waiting for more to chime in with their experience and especially regarding the movement over the detent during DF or bombing or any other maneuvers that need afterburner ASAP.

Thank you and others for the advice thus far.

I was thinking about of putting (in some way) a spring that will “bounce” to MIL, so fot AB you have to pull this spring. You will loose the ability to set an AB value and maintain it without hands, but you won’t have any detent (and no noise in the cougar throttle).

I use the detent, but I have big problems lifting and moving the whole throttle instead of just the axis.
I notice also that I am working hard with the stick, I think my table is too high for this usage.Do you have it level with your keyboard?

By the way the carpet helps at least a little bit, de desk is too slippery

What I did was trim the detent stop so that if I pushed a bit harder it would ride up and over into AB. Almost like a cam action.

Here is a link to how it is done over on the “Ahem” DCS site… http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=133199

Just be cautious and take your time to get the right setting, little bit at a time.

I love that you can then set your AB in setup by just pushing to the bump and setting it. (Wish we could do that in DCS)

Yeah, triming the edge of detent stop really works fine. I did it right after 3 hours of dogfighting and it took me 3 minutes or something.

I have the same problem with my throttle. It is on the same level with the Keyboard, looks very similar to SnowSkys. You can try to add self-adhesive velcro on your throttle to prevent lifting the whole thing instead of the axis only. It works but is not very elegant.
                                Regards

I use the detent for engine start and stop and use the external sound of the engine to know when the afterburner is on.
I can start and shut the engine down by pushing / pulling the throttle over the detent.
I didn’t like having to hit the idle detent button on the keyboard to start or shut down the engine.
