Have Quick Radios
-
Can someone please explain what Have Quick Radios do on an f16. So if you have your UHF set to channel 1 the actual UHF frequency on the comm page keeps changing in sync with other friendly UHF radios?
If its only for UHF, how do they mask the intra flight comms between wingman on VHF? I assume we don’t have this simulated in BMS.
Thank you and Happy New Year!

Have Quick is a frequency hopping security method. The time of day (TOD) synchronizes when the hops occur and the word of day (WOD) encodes the pattern and the net number defines the frequencies.
The UHF operates normally on single frequency or preset channel. You enter “0” to change it over to HQ operation. Then the freq/chan becomes something like A12.300. The preset system also works for HQ nets.
AN/ARC-186 doesn’t have an anti-jam capability but can encrypt using KY-58 or similar.
