Tacview – Understand what happened during your last flight! (alternative ACMI viewer)
-
Feature request: is it possible to implement radar lock lines from missiles and SAM radars?
-
Good question
Tacview supports that kind of telemetry but BMS does not. So the ball is their court…

Tacview 1.4 and its long awaited online debriefing is available!
After a long period of debugging and tweaking, it is time to release Tacview 1.4 so you can now enjoy the promised online debriefing feature.
Now registered users can connect all together to enjoy a debriefing provided by their instructor. Time, point-of-view, altitude restrictions and other settings will be in sync on all computers. The strategic view and charts will be visible for everyone during the debriefing. Everyone can SHIFT+CLICK an object in the 3D view to highlight a specific action. And don’t forget to press ALT+ENTER to enter fullscreen mode to fully enjoy the debriefing while sipping your favorite drink
Please note that a professional license is required to host a session and at least a home license is required to join a session. Obviously, all these features are available during the trial period.
In the following updates, the host will also be able to give control to any client with a Professional license and clients may be able to temporarily keep control of their own point of view.
Now I can focus on the other long awaited feature: The real-time flight analysis which will be available to most flight simulators and real-life devices like DCS World, FSX and X-Plane just to name a few.
Enjoy!

Big Time Thanks… You nailed it, one more time!
-
Awesome… Simply awesome… Thanks a lot for this amazing software and these changes… It’s an exciting changelog really… [emoji106]

Two things…
1. For the bookmarks are there any labels you can add or comments - notes on them? That would be greatly welcomed and useful for online and offline squadron debriefing. Also on this if one could select Flight name or Flight member name and maybe some custom tags… It could work and as a post flight evaluation tool for trainees. if you send the saved with bookmarks file and send it to another person when he opens it does the bookmarks show? Also bookmarks work and show on online debriefing?
2. A true challenge now… Comparison of briefed plan to actual flight. Meaning timing on stpts, altitudes, TOT, landing on correct airbase, briefed ground target destruction, in case of ground strike attack plan comparison ip OA etc according to Falcas WDP plan for the mission.
-
1- Yes, the bookmarks are fully featured. They are the same as the ones offered by the new CTRL+C/V feature. You can edit a label and they will restore the whole selection and point-of-view.
2- I will think about it in a few releases. There are still a lot of new tools on the way which are going to be helpful with this kind of analysis.

- I’m using 1.4.0 Professional and BMS .inis I was able to import just fine in 1.3.4 Professional now give me the following error:
“The file format of ‘[Path]’ is not supported. Check the official website to know if there is a newer version of Tacview or another edition which can read this file.”
I also tried importing some of the new 4.33 training mission .inis and I’m getting the same error.
- The Korean AIP by Wingedsky (https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?20139-Korea-Aeronautical-Information-Publication-(AIP)-For-TACVIEW)) no longer seems to work with 1.4.0 (the lines/circles are not displayed even though they are correctly installed in the /Data/StaticObjects/ folder). Vyrtuoz, I know you are not responsible for 3rd party add-ons, but were there any changes made in 1.4.0 that might cause this, and can you think of an easy workaround?
-
-
It looks like I broke the DTC files support. Sorry about that. I’m going to fix it for Tacview 1.4.1 as soon as possible.
-
Indeed, the folders where to store static objects have been changed to something easier:
Since Tacview 1.4, you have to install static objects files in the sub-folders of your choice under:
%ProgramData%\Tacview\Data\Static Objects\
or```
%APPDATA%\Tacview\Data\Static Objects\Detailed documentation about static objects: [http://tacview.strasoftware.com/documentation/staticobjects/](http://tacview.strasoftware.com/documentation/staticobjects/)

, Hi !
Tried online debriefing of 4.33 today. Both parties had professional version, latest update. Message about missing data, and host was in Korea, but client was south of Nigeria, but no data/units visible. Needs fixing. Connection was flawless though….
-
Did you load the proper flight recording on client computers? (data is not transferred over the network, that would be way too much data)
-
You asked for it: A professional grade 5mW 650nm laser pointer is now included for FREE with each copy of Tacview Professional 1.4.1. Now you can now highlight any part of the battlefield and even charts during your online debriefings!
Please, be responsible: Don’t point laser beams at faces, eyes, kittens or real aircraft.
-
As I use the laser pointer in 1.4.1 beta I noticed the mouse cursor is visible. Is there a command to remove the cursor and just leave the pointer. If not will it be possible in the future ?
Thanks -
I heard a feature request that I’m passing on.
It was for a “padlock” for HUD view mode. I thought that it would be convenient if when HUD view of primary object to padlock to secondary object when the “*” button at the top is pressed (that normally averages the camera between pri/sec).
-
Thank you both for the feedback!
I will hide the mouse cursor while displaying the red-dot in the next beta. As for the padlock, this is a good idea too, I will probably add it in the next release (1.4.2 or 1.5).

Is there a way to have a better performances without 3D gfx card?
My problem is, on my crappy Couch-Notebook i have just an shitty Intel GPU missing 3D acceleration, with the new 1.4 watching ACMI’s looks like a slide presentation.
Is there a workaround or have i to go back on an older version?
-
I have smooth frame rate with an Core i7 (Intel HD Graphic 5000) and Windows 7/8/10 64-bit. Did you install the latest official graphic drivers from Intel? (This can make a difference)
Now, the only display option you can change and which also affect the frame rate the most is the trail size. Try to reduce it to 50% or even less. You should notice an improvement with a slow CPU.
I have planned to rewrite my 3D engine from scratch next year (we are almost in 2016!), and I’m foreseeing a frame rate two to four times smoother (maybe even more after tweaking the terrain engine)
-
Thx for the info. I’m on Win10 Home so i think i’m on the latest (best?) driver but i will check Intel’s Website. Will try the reduced trail size also!
-
Tried both, new driver and reduced trail size, no joy with 1.4.
I’m using 1.3.4 for the moment, that one works for me.

Hi Vyrtuoz!
Once again… Congrats for your efforts on every new version!Question: Is there a way to pre-load DTC .ini files upon opening Tacview? Or a tool to convert .ini to Static Objects (.xml) ?
My scenario is this: I have made a couple .ini files with some designated areas [STPT] in DTC format, and each time I open TacView to review a flight recording, I have to drag ‘n’ drop the ini files manually inside the map’s screen. Can this somehow be done automatically upon running Tacview?Remark: I Use 1.4.1 beta 2 (with my key from purchased pro version)
Thanks in advance!
