Windows 10 Sucks
-
I finally had the sim flying well and was even shooting rifles REALLY well with boresight and a little padlocking. Then I got a pop up from another program that wouldn’t go away so I decided to reboot. Now my stick is jacked. The only thing I can figure is Windows 10. BMS was working perfectly and now it isn’t. I bought a Win7 OS and it should be here in a couple days. I’ll do some testing but at this point it seems that Win10 doesn’t like DX much. It at minimum doesn’t assign controllers well.
-
Did you install some strange programs?
I’m using windows 10 fine.
Only thing is WSR Macro (for radio Speech) which sucks a bit. At the position of the control you can’t push an ingame button. -

Might be an issue with your settings. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/18442-bos-keeps-reassigning-joystick-numbers/page-2#entry294446

Yes, windoze 10 sux, next topic.
W7 64 bit remains the gamers OS of choice.

Every new OS that Microsucks comes out with has problems with legacy games. With 10, even more older games do not work (and probably never will again) because the kernnel is re-written and older legacy software can not run it. Also, Microsucks removes “permissions” from your control over how software runs. Also, 7 updates can prevent older games from working as well. Some older games I have will not run anymore due to updates (but ran fine before the updates). It is all a campaign to get you to switch to a newer OS. Updates that cause issues with programs (where you didn’t have issues before) so you have to upgrade to a new OS. Either that or run a legacy OS with partitions. 7 is not going to be supported anymore with OS updates. Any glaring issues will not be fixed. Microsucks doesn’t want to fix them. Same for 8, 8.1 No fixes for any of them anymore by the end of this year. Compatibility problems still exists for these OS. Microsucks just brushes them off. They don’t care. They have there money.

Try to run BMS in Win 7 compatibilty mode. That solved most of my issues (whenever there is still a 50/50 chance that falcon hung up when minimizing BMS)

Falcon BMS works just fine in Windows 10 least in my computer.
What stick you have?
Zero problems so far, maybe you have just bad luck
I like Windows 10 , best os so far from MS.
Even my old games (heroes 3, kotor etc) work fine.
-
Could you elaborate on the problems you are experiencing with your stick? It can probably be fixed without converting back to windows 7 (IMO windows 10 is a far superior OS…).

Win10 upgrade for me was completely seamless with a TM Cougar setup

I had no problems with win10, although I did run a hack to remove the spyware in it
Saitek X52 old version requires windows not to automatically get drivers for hardware. This is a simple settings change.
Also, I’ve had no luck with the latest software and drivers from Saitek, Although they did re-introduce the old X52 when they
made a deal with the guys from Frontier. I have installed a version 6.something of the drivers and software and everything works perfect. In my opinion having an updated, legal, latest version of windows is paramount.
I used to run a windows 7 install, only to find my computer one morning arranged as some hacker’s warez mirror. In general, with computers and software, I don’t listen to what others say, because that is nonsensical.
I’m going to use i, and if it’s a hype to diss windoze I’m not interested in that.
If you’re worried about windows leaking information, you setup your firewal… if you’re still worried, you put a hardware firewall between your pc and internet.
As far as I know, privacy intrusion is still optional, and if you just take the effort to do a decent configuration of the machine you’re going to do alot of things with,
you’ll have a really fine OS in windows.I
Windoze is still that fastest OS for gaming, imho.

That’s not a problem of Win7 but more a problem of user errors reguarding PC security.

Zero problems on Win 10 x64 here. Even ALT+Tab works with a bit of fiddling. (Shouldn’t use it too often though.)

Same issue with me. My Warthog Hotas has to be the first device in joy.cpl and Win 10 changes the order (and IDs) every damn time I boot up.
I tried loads of solutions (USB power settings, sleep settings etc) but the only thing that works is using a program called USBDeview by NirSOFT to uninstall the devices below the warthog and then plug them back in so that they appear beneath it.
Once I’ve done that, I don’t need to setup my damn mappings every time.
Cheers,
Del

Windows 10 Sucks
Nothing else I could say but “I AGREE”

+1 having no problem at all with Windows 10: for me, too, this is the best Windows Microsoft has ever released.

Windows 10 is fine, and this is not a BMS topic.

+1 here.
Win 10 (I’ve the Pro 64 bit version installed on my system) not only is far more stable than 8.1, which was already good, but gives its best with both BMSs.
And not whith them only, to tell my own little experience, but in general with several other flight sims.
Best regards to all,

Windows 10 is fine, and this is not a BMS topic.
Not trying to start something, but that’s why it is under the General Discussion Topic. DCS is not a BMS Topic and there are several threads about it. We are just expressing our opinions.

I’m running Win 8.1 on my flight sim machine (see sig), and Win 10 on my ‘normal’ PC. I’ve held off upgrading the flight sim machine, because it seems to work fine with all that I fly (BMS, DCS, FSX occassionally). But Win 8.1 does have its quirks (regular BSOD 0x9F issue) so I’m not opposed to upgrading if it’s worth it overall.
As there’s a spread of good/bad experiences in this thread, can those that have Win 10 on their machines help the likes of me by saying whether Win 10 is good/bad for them in sims, and list specs and peripherals? Thanks!
