Windows 10 Sucks
-
Same issue with me. My Warthog Hotas has to be the first device in joy.cpl and Win 10 changes the order (and IDs) every damn time I boot up.
I tried loads of solutions (USB power settings, sleep settings etc) but the only thing that works is using a program called USBDeview by NirSOFT to uninstall the devices below the warthog and then plug them back in so that they appear beneath it.
Once I’ve done that, I don’t need to setup my damn mappings every time.
Cheers,
Del
What solved that issue for me was plugging everything except my flight related controllers into a powered USB hub and setting axismapping.dat and joystick.cal to read only.

Ah sweet, I’ll give the read only trick a go. I imagine it’ll be frustrating in a few months though when I forget and want to change a key [emoji1]
Cheers,

Not trying to start something, but that’s why it is under the General Discussion Topic. DCS is not a BMS Topic and there are several threads about it. We are just expressing our opinions.

I use Win 10 with 4.32 with the X55. No problems (so far!) However, the IL/Lomac family are plagued, having worked smoothly with Win 8.1 & Win XP previously Serious bummer, as MS appear not to bother with sorting compatibility with Win 10. Time was, MS O Systems were backwards compatible. No more, and this really sucks. Can’t be that difficult to have a function that could make this work again. Have not yet got 4.33, but will DL soon & hope Win 10 behaves.

Windows 10 here, 6 PC’s inc an old HP Laptop, older Gen HP i5 and a crappy Lenovo touch screen all run W10 and BMS 4.33 just perfect, no issues what so ever.

I just turned off the advanced power management features for all USB devices in the registry. That sorted the problems I had.

Other than than no problems whatsoever in BMS & DCS on 2 machines running W10. Doesn’t mean though that I’m not too pleased with certain things in W10

Strange, I followed the same thing but it didn’t work for me. I blame my cheapo powered USB hub [emoji1]

Ah yeah, perhaps I should have added I don’t use a hub.

Agree with Kneejo!!! Went from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and BMS 4.33 runs better now than before. I am using the Thrustmaster Hotas A-10 stick and throttle, works great and also works great with DMS A-10C. Only thing I do differently now is turn off Windows Defender BEFORE i start BMS or DMS. Turn it back on before shutting down and have had no issues at all. Configure your machine as Kneejo indicated, works well if you do…

I’m on win10 with an x-55. 10/10 experience, would do again! Runs flawless.

Hey MOWER!!! So I have everything running beautifully in 32bit mode…… Which is great for single but I want to fly with the 20th and they are 64bit exclusively. I downgraded back to win7 but I couldn’t even start the sim. So I have gone back to win10 but cannot get it to work in 64bit. Why is F4 ALWAYS A PAIN IN THE ASS?

Oh, and to the original topic, Win10 and the Warthog are now best buddies!

I tried every suggestion on the www to get Win 10 to list my controller devices with Cougar HOTAS first, with no success. Win 10 insists on listing my TM MFDs first and second and the Cougar third. I tried registry hacks, JoyIDs and other utilities, turning off USB energy management, plugging in the devices in various orders and ports, and on and on. NOTHING worked consistently. Finally gave up and edited a new .key file with the DX device assignments in the order Win 10 likes. MS won this one!

I was about to do that as well when I discovered that if I removed my pedals in the device manager, unplugged the USB, plugged it back in and let it re-install my order was correct. TM Combined (0), MFD’s (1) & (2), Pedals (3)… go figure. I only have to do that the once, unless I turn off the computer then I just re do it.

I decided to try to update from win7 64 to win 10, everything worked fine and bms worked too. So I shut the computer down and the next day when I started it I get bsod “page fault in nonpage area”. I’ve run chkdsk and memory check, swapped ram changed gfx card and I still get the same bsod at startup. I can get into win 10 in safe mode but that’s it. I think it’s some driver issue as win 10 disabled some stuff when it installed that was not supported, but that didn’t get into effect until I restarted the computer. I will reinstall win7 fresh and disable auto updates. At least until I can afford a new MB and CPU.
