Not sure how. I task virtually all missions in campaign and hit red airbases every 2 hours or so as I see repairs were made. Here Sunchon AB though completely destroyed is launching Mig29’s.

Taxiways? Dirt or grassy areas near runways?

Russian fighter and attack aircraft were designed to operate from less than ideal airfields. It could be that’s modeled in the sim.

Is it still true that an airfield has to have an operational control tower to launch aircraft?
I always thought that was a little bit of a silly limitation, but I thought that was the deal in Falcon (?)

            1. taking off from grass not modeled I assume. 2. control tower is also destroyed (see pic). I know in 4.32 Mig-19’s where known to take off from airstrips as a known bug but I have never seen Mig29 from a completely destroyed airbase. Not a problem just reporting it.

I had MiG 29s take off from a destroyed airbase in 4.32 too. Happened as I was flying past it, so I could watch them taking off, and immediately dive down for the kill. Surprising, but easy kill that time 🙂

Seeing as how there is two different Sunchon ABs, are you sure they took off from that one?

look at the map recon targets with disposition and the squadron status box with home. All from planning map and the icon was a Mig29 so the answer is yes.

There is a Sunch’on airstrip some distance west from the airbase hence you may be correct; normally the airstrip is close by the airbase if they both possess the same name and the Mig29 was close to the airbase. If you look at the Mig29 squadron’s status visible in the above pic home base is the airbase not the airstrip yet shit happens in war. Very good info Bluwolf thank you

can you find another one or airstrip?

The other Sunchon AB, I mean.

EDIT: so it seems that in the rolling fire campaign, the second Sunch’on is correctly renamed Pukch’ang instead. In the TE builder however, it is still called Sunch’on AB. So you actually have two Sunch’on airbases in the TE builder, with one 11 miles north of the other.

That only a Falcon veteran would know LOL. Good work! There is also an Onch’on but correct; no second Sunch’on in KTO campaign. Thanks for your input.
