@RPG:
I wouldn’t paste them into your texture folder, I would replace the texture folder with Tomcatz texture folder, in other words remove and backup your old folder and replace it with the Tomcatz texture folder.
What’s the difference???

Hi Tom, what are the changes from the first texture pack? And Brian, what do you mean about it not being stable on line? The first pack seemed fine to me, no problems since I installed it?

Hi RPG, well, the cities & villages are the same as the original pack, also the Forest textures seem unchanged, but slightly lighter, more pale green? Apart from that I could not see much difference, so maybe you can tell me what I should be looking for? Unless of course I have done something wrong, but just copied in the textures to the relevant folder…

I see this:
and this:
After doing as you suggested. Now I like the first pack, the new cities, forests etc were great. But now, all the Kunsan photoreal tiles are gone, the coast line looks like lego land and everything is bounded by straight lines. I like the field textures, but the way they look tiled is terrible…Have I still done something wrong or is this what you see? I just do not see that as an improvement if so…

That’s the problem when one create all Korean tiles in a few hours work. Repeatation it is.

I think the problem is the tile borders - with the stock tiles, the coast tiles are well blended with the other tiles, , OK, not perfect, but pretty good. These are so different, the join lines stand out really badly - you never see straight lines like that in nature, so it straight away looks really bad. The textures themselves are very nice, they just need integrating properly. And the loss of the photoreal around Kunsan is a backwards step if you ask me. I am not meaning to put Toms work down, its way better than anything I can do , but the first release was much better and gave none of these issues. IMHO. I am going back to version 1……

On further investigation, it appears to affect just certain coastal areas. I guess where 2 very different tiles come together. I dont know how easy, but perhaps the colours in each can be manipulated to produce a less noticeable contrast?

Look back in the thread, both TCKnight and Demo have reported CTD’s in MP. Is it the textures, dunno, but if that’s all they’re replacing, then??
I’m positive I’ve also seen a couple other similar posts but I already re-read this thread and don’t feel like wading through other threads this early in the morning. Not really awake yet!!! lol Besides, it’s Sunday, and I recollect some Dude saying, “Ye Shall rest”, hahaha

Mods and Textures only offline, my experience with mipmapped textures. I didn’t try with these original versions by Tomcatz.
in MP, if you see some strange blue scripts on screen when you enter in the pit you’re in the wrong way.
In my install just different skins, this is my motto now, experiments are good for beta versions or for pilots they don’t fly online.Obviously I will use these textures in my personal install so thanks Tomcatz for another shared version, I hope shimmering is disappeared.
Just my opinion.
Cheers
