Boresighting Mavericks on the Ground
-
Hi Folks,
this night, my mates and me did some Maverick testing and training.
During our session I became really interested in ground operations with tgp and mav.I did some tests and didnt manage to boresight the maverick with the tgp on the ground.
The reason I came up with in the debrief was, that the tgp cannot lock a target with ir point on the ground and the
maverick is unable to lock targets during ground ops too.Is there a solution to solve this problem and get the mav´s boresighted on the ground already?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi there mate,
I gave up on bore-sighting the Maverick on the ground, what i actually do is that i plan a steer-point along the route where i know i will find something to bore-sight the mavs on.

I typed ‘maverick boresight ground’ into the search box and this was the 4th thread in the list: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?23420-Tips-for-Maverick-Boresight-Align-on-the-Ground&highlight=maverick+boresight+ground
You can do it, but it’s easier in the air

This is what I have been doing. Setting STP 3/4 near a town or area with objects and using that to boresight as part of my fencing in procedure.

With Dynamic weather, it is wise to plan the mission with mavericks a bit differently than the other missions. When going to KOTAR is usually take the radar station to the south-est of KOTAR for bore-sighting the AGM 65’s.
Reading the referenced thread by Darkman, i can only think that i made the right choice to go for in-flight bore-sighting.

Tis a good idea, just can’t be done reliably on the ground in BMS.

Thanks for your fast answers and sorry for the double posting

You can if you hit the ground jet enable switch, but as has been mentioned, much easier in the air.
