What is the difference between these two settings? The only thing I noticed is that semi-auto won’t let you go below bingo quantity. Like my current bingo quantity is set to 5 for each. When the number hits 5, the system won’t let me dispense anymore.

If someone shoots at you in SEMI the VMU will prompt “counter” and if you give consent (CMS aft) it’ll keep running the program (1-4) selected until the threat is no longer indicated by the RWR link. The next threat requires a separate consent input. It’s like AUTO except you get to decide every time.

The bingo CM level does act as a temporary interrupt on automatic dispensing. Giving consent again will continue below the bingo level.

Oh, I see. so Semi can prevent people from wasting precious CMs. If there is no threat, it won’t let you go below bingo. I fully understand chaff side. But what about flare side. There is no way to detect a IR launch except naked human eyes. How would the system know if the plane is under IR attack.

CMDS only can be triggered based on linked equipment. RWR can generate threat impulse (as long as RWR link switch is on 😉 ). For general missile threat you need “missile warning system” which uses cameras looking for IR or UV light from rocket motors. Of course wingman firing Maverick and enemy firing Aphid are both the same.

F-16 (some) have MWS and you even see the switch in the cockpit in BMS but it’s not implemented.

In real F-16, the switch is also not wired.

                      In case of, someday….
The countries using the PIDS + with NWS use the Terma EWMS panel, not the ACMDS.

You know, it happen to have, IRL, switchs not wired or without the required software, I can give you some easily.
