Live map on MFD???
-
Hi,
Is there a MOD which can present a map on the MFD? -
The F-16C/D Block 50/52 doesn’t have this capability so no…. The Block 70 may have this capability, but that’s not in BMS today.
I believe one (or more) ANG F-16D Block 30s had been fitted with a moving map display in the rear cockpit, with 86-0049 being one of them. But I’m not sure what USAF modification that was and how many were implemented.
It certainly isn’t a standard feature on Active Duty F-16C models within the USAF at the moment. -

No(t yet).
In rl this feature is available on all latest Block 5x (HAF PX4, Polish, Turkey PO4 etc), upgraded USAF ANG older models, and of course the newer Block 7x / V configuration. It is not “block” depended but software tape depended, and of course what the customer wants and affords to pay.

I use YAME64´s moving map in an android tablet. It´s not in MFD but CPD(center pedestal display).

A bit more research… For USAF (ANG) models, color moving map is available on the ANG F-16C/D+ models that underwent System Capability Upgrade 8 (SCU-8 ) and were fitted with the new [Raytheon] Center Display Unit (CDU), which is a third MFD:
‘We received SCU-8 just prior to our Afghanistan combat deployment and we were the first unit to receive this upgrade. It gives us the new [Raytheon] Center Display Unit (CDU), which is a good-size MFD (multi-function display) in the middle, plus the new Helmet-Mounted Integrated Targeting (HMIT) system’. The latter is a cheaper and less complex answer to the more traditional Joint Helmet-Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) and is based on the Gentex Scorpion helmet.
[…]
‘The CDU gives us a moving map and we can also put our targeting pod imagery on it — that huge MFD 8 x 10in, it gives us a much larger picture to look at’.
And this is what that looks like:
It’s pretty similar to the F-16I Block 70 proposed to India:

Won’t be in BMS. Doesn’t worth the pain as it would be unreadable.

For the server part it needs an registry entry for 4.33 U1 pointing to your 4.34 baseDir.
As the source code is now available to the public I’m currently fixing the server part to work with 4.34 without registry hackGesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk

There was a reference post and pic some time ago on the Facebook, from a Spanish; team/developer for an application to project this map on the mfd, most probably was used internally only from their virtual-sq pilots. Still is not made public afaik.
Some day the feature will most probably be implemented.

We need the ANG F-16C+
-
let’s hope to see moving map if GFX code could changed … after that, i suppose the data and the map should be readable.
-
Nothing tied to GFX code. Try the same mock-up you’ve made above but by respecting the actual in game MFD resolution … see what it gives.
No moving map planned (too much efforts for such a marginal & optional feature).
-
Most serious flyers have mfd’s exported to another screen, along with TM or real mfd bezels. That feature will be excellent in that setup, where the 1:1 resolution is just fine to view the necessary map details. In game only with no mfd export, the pilot has the ability via a mfd key to remove the map layer from the hsd view, so no prob at all. As I said, sooner or later.

Just extract the gauges gents and you can overcome the limitations of BMS very easily.
Many other sims have the same screen/resolution problem and such gimmicks nevertheless works perfectly in their implementation. So personally I don’t buy the resolution excuse.
It’s just a matter of personal preference and motivation or tools available to do it, which I perfectly understand are not available or not priotized.
But that shouldn’t stop any of you willing to have it. Extract gauges, install YAME or any CPD software and enjoy the gimmick you like. -
RD, I’m not so familiar with other CPD software, I mean have tried a Lightning tool with no CPD success
Currently I am Y64 user
Can you please help pointing me in the right direction?
Any tips? -
same for android pad’s which software is appropriate for BMS 4.34 U2?

Red Dog how did you get your moving map to display. I can get the HDD page to display but no other pages. Is there a key file to program all the 26 buttons. I have Lightning’s software. I have CRS HDG ALOW BARO programed from BMS keyfile but that’s it.
Can’t find anything keyfiles for MAP CHKLIST CHARTS TGP TAD FUEL Pages ? I"m using 4.35U1. Are you using YAME?
