Better MFD graphics and text suggestions
I have just installed a NVidia gtx 960 and a Dell U2414H monitor on a XPS 8700 with an intel I& 4770 cpu, and 8 GB RAM. I have searched and seen some older information about how to better the cockpit graphics but still not sure of exactly what I’m doing or if good on 4.33 I’m getting fine frame rates, good textures in and out of the cockpit, but I see many videos where the MFD’s seem much better (crisper) than what I am experiencing.
I have the UI BMS graphics settings all enacted. However I was wondering if someone wouldn’t mind offering some suggestions of setting I should use within the NVidia software on getting a crisper text on my cockpit MFDs. They seem to shimmer a lot. Thank you for any assistance.
Your monitor is only 1920x1080 according to google, that is kindof low. You could try lowering your FieldOfView in the bms launcher configuration menu. I use 1080 sometimes at 27 inches, its pretty bad. Usually i use 2560x1440 at the same size, its way better. You could also check to see multisampling is turned on.
I use a 50" LED TV with 1080P. I have a GTX 980. I found using an older driver worked much better than the newer ones. Also, play with the 3-D settings in the NVidia Control Panel. You just have to find what works best for you. If you are using Multisampling, anything over 1 is just a waste of frame rates, unless you are using a much higher resolution. You may not be able to get all the shimmering out of the MFD’s. But when you zoom in on them, it should get better. And with the correct settings, you can get it down to a bare minimum. My picture looks great. I run between 65 and 85 FPS in the air, and I also run with a full sim-pit.
Also, someone correct me if I am wrong, if you are using TrackIR, I believe it causes some of the shimmering because it is not a 100% stable image. If you are not using a head tracker, disregard
