      Hi everyone,

on our online mission yesterday i was up just checking the comms regarding our IVC problems, for that purpose i took off an the was nearly the whole time just circling over an Steerpoint in AP ALT HOLD mode on 15000 ft so i could concentrate on the comms.

During the very long turns (speeds between 350-420 kts) i saw that all three seconds there was a very small winglift upwards and then returing to normal 45° bank. I didn’t touch the controls, but could it be spikes from my FCC3 equipped Cougar? Or is there some problem with AP code?

Also, flying with 3-baggers and Fuel set to “Wings first” there occured an “WARNING” from Betty but i didn’t see something one the warning light panel or PFL. It was around 7200 lbs. Fuel left, maybe when the fuel management switched to internal fuel?

7200 pounds is the point on a C model where you should be internal only fuel. Did you happen to check the HUD for a trapped fuel indication? Another bit you should have checked was the Int Wing setting of the Fuel Qty selector panel to verify you still had roughly 550 pounds in left and right wings. At 7200 pounds they should have been full still. That and selecting Ext Wing and Ext Ctr to verify at 7200 pounds that they both showed zero for A/L and F/R.

Based on how simplified it is in the sim if they do not indicate as they should the only two things to really check for are air refuel slipway not left open and engine feed switch in normal.

My bet for the Warning is that you switched from CAT III to CAT I as your wing tanks got empty.

Need to check for the AP - but then again, IIRC, internal logic is the real FLCS one… so if there are spikes, it might be just like that IRL. Or your stick has a problem, but you would see it on normal 1G trimmed flight, I guess.

Stores config being out isn’t going to give a warning but a caution indication.

              Good point ! Nevermind then.

Didn’t pay much attention because i was noting IVC errors. But there was no HUD reading, no STORES CONFIG, empty PFD nor other indication whats wrong.

Tried then the Fuel QTY SEL, external tanks WNG and CTR showed zero lbs. I didn’t fall out of the sky, AP kept working and i had to continue monitor the comms so i gave it a shrug and let the AP do his work and did mine too 😛

If you fly over airplanes you’ll notice lots of extraneous banking because the values aren’t tuned for non-F-16s. You might have found a particular fuel distribution that isn’t well tuned even for the F-16.

                    non sense

other aircrafts do not share one single line of. code with the f16….

OK, maybe they don’t share autopilot tuning parameters but it does show that autopilot smoothness depends on those parameters. Perhaps he found a configuration for the F-16 which the normally smooth autopilot has trouble.

Just a shot in the dark, but by “wing lifts” do you mean a small quick bend of the wing? If so, what you may be seeing is the wing flexing due to load or stress at points in your turn.

                          could be just turbulences !

If it’s wing flex/osculation then yeah, it’s not the AP. I’m assuming an awful lot based on the super technical words “wing lifts” and the fact he mentions it under AP which I hope suggests that this happens under AP and not while not. So I rack my brain to think of the only logical explanation. As the saying goes, a video is worth a thousand words.

To bring this up: yesterday we had our next online mission. Still documenting IVC problems, so again i flew circles with AP on over Kunsan AB.

This time i had small wingDROPS every second. Definitivly no wingflex as the whole plane banked, no Joystick spikes as the jet flew stable on straights. I saw the ailerons make small movements on every wingdrop, i could stop the oszillation with small counter-input on the stick.

I can provide an tape if someone wants to take a look at it …

It can still be wingflex if by “whole plane banked” you mean you saw the entire wing bank. Especially if you saw the control surfaces move. If possible, next time you see this, check via the hud if the waterline is moving on the banks.

Done that, the whole plane banked, not just the wing. Could see the movement in HUD and ADI also.
