By selecting enemy skill level to Recruit, for SAM for example, does it mean that their reaction to shoot a missile is slower, but once the missile is in air, the missile acts the same way irregardless if it was a Recruit or an Ace who shot it (the missile works the same irregardless of skill level?)
Or is my question a bit difficult to understand…?

I see now that I misread your post.

I do not know how an enemy SAM reacts based on its skill level.

        What have you seen?

          Hi, kenguan

I am testing the skill level of SA2, Recruit vs Ace, in the TE module.
I have not yet seen any difference.
          I approach at 15,000 feet.

          Both Recruit and Ace:

–-hit my RWR at same distance and altitude. For this TE that would be 58 miles and 1,700’. (Soon after takeoff)
—Fire as soon as I enter their threat circle
—go solid red on Had approx 5-10 mile prior to me entering their threat circle.
—both appear to have an inventory of 12 missiles to fire, and both seem to fire at similar rate.
—from what I can tell, the missile behaves same way.
—are just as easy to target, and get kills on the Fan Song.

I don’t know what to check next. If I think of something I’ll be back.

Maybe the old F4_RP5_User_Manual.pdf (page:270) … even outdated
might give a hint in the right direction?

Ayup. I THINK in that manual they mention the “dumber” the SAM crew is the more likely they’ll fire missiles even if they don’t have a solid lock on you, while “smarter” crews try to save missiles until they’re sure it’s actually tracking.

@Axe Hi all. How do you change the skill level of a ground unit? like a SAM unit?.
I’m trying on Mission Commander but I don’t see this option, to can change the “Experience” and up levels of SAM’s. By the way, I use 1366x768, and some windows on Mission Commander, can’t be seen correctly, but not the window with the unit properties, but the skills from “Experience” not there.

Creating a single TE mission, I put a unit of SA-4 to defend an airbase, 4 enemy aircraft are in range, and the SA-4 fire only 1 or 2 missiles at once, so slowly, and all of this enemy aircraft reach the airbase and win air supremacy, avoiding all SA-4 missiles and with this SA-4 out of rounds, every one of it has only 3 missiles, and no resupply.

Any tips would be appreciated. Thank’s in advance for any help here.

@cchaparro Think you can set level of all air and ground forces of both sides under the teams menu in the Campaign/TE build mode. It’s global not specific to a unit as I understand it.

@Dukera I never think that “ADA Skill”, on the teams menu, was referred to land units, for example if I set pilot skill on the same way, when I add a flight, still on other, not that one I set on team menu, so when add flight, I set level at this moment, from flight select menu, not from teams menu.

Only to say… wow!, many thank’s for this help, now I can add ground units with Elite level for testing, and other levels too this way.

Considering RL the SA-4 should launch and guide only a single missile at a time. Yes, the SA-4 had only single target AND a single missile channel.
