Hello guys,
I made a lot of tests and I think that the results arent bad. But I Need help now…
My dream is to have a small Terrain with 3 or 4 airbases only. Just for examble in Russia , Romainia , Ukraine ….
Is there someone who can give me a workable Terrain (L2) or Theater File? What I Need is a Terrain only. I`m to dump to make it by myself. All what to do (tilling, Objects adding and so on) I will do.
All I Need is a working SMALL Terrain (Europe please). It can be the pure mess (just like Nordic Theater) so that I can do tests and workings. Perfect would be northern Germany, Denmark, South Norway and Sweden
Here I played with the Aeagean Theater (some small parts only-not at all) without any permissions… (I would do the same for a smaller Map)
Around Rostock-Laage would be perfect. Can someone help me?

Very beautifull Tom,
It reminds me very much of Flanker 2.5, the Landscape looks very much like that theater (would perhaps be an idea to create same theater area?), buildings and Power grids, trees.
I also very much like the Color tone you use in your work, it all blends very nice!Anyway, just ideas;-)

Hi Tom,
smaller theater than default 64 segment is problematic…so I suggest you to stick with 64 segment. I have completely tiled this 128 area. I think I can export 64 for you:something like this?
Would be good if you can make textures for it (I can send it including texture BIN etc). I used to have also a dream about dense objects for low alt flying. I have heard there will be new approach in the future - the theaters can have dedicated exe…? So I hope I can flip diagonals in the near future (not so big issue in marked 64 for you area tho).
My idea about appearance is a bit different tho. If you dont mind, I would like to use later your simplified texture pack for my 128seg version. With some batch filter…or without it. -

Im serving in the Luftwaffe. I
m in contact with real life pilots who are willing to help me with official flying Standards and Charts. Same for Areas, Restrictions and official (non classified -non secret) orders. And finally : I fly there with my glider plane.
Could be nice to have an area I know from real life in BMS.

Tom, have you tested ground units with your new fantastic cities? Can they go through city? How well works the “path finding”?

yes- you can go low Level through the City. If all the hitboxes are edited all works fine. The tanks will follow the streets when they are marching. But in worst case the tanks driving through the building. Not so nice but a coding Problem. The ground forces simply not understand the fact, that there is a limiting object just like a wall… . Its hard the find Targets in a City. If you are lucky and have a Maverick look on a target you have to make sure to have a clean optical line and a clean glidepath for the Maverick. If the target is moving behind a building, the Maverick will loose the look and Impact somewhere. The best way to hit a target in urban Terrain is to use a gliding bomb. That Kind of tank plinking makes a good hit in order to save civil lifes. I made churches and hospitals ... I

Yes-of corse. I have a marginal Frame drop while flying in sight to a big City. I flew over Istanbul and had some Problems . I edited the LODs and Ranges for the objekts and all worked well and smoothly. So yes- It is possible to handle big Citys. (BTW: Falcon Exporter isnt exporting correctly. The Exporter for 3DsMax isn
t able to Export Polygones. Faces only. That fact forcing the Facecount higher in 3D objects. You can see that effect when you open some very old buildungs with LOD Viewer and watch the polycount. Small Problem- but for MegaCitys (Hamburg/Berlin/Athenia/Istanbul/Seoul) it could be a hard fact) .Yes- Lukas: I hope to hear from you soon. I`m hot to start the work. :drink:

clouds, Shadows, Water refelections, all to high. And it worksMy Plan is to build Rostock Laage (German Airforce Base- Home of the JG73 Steinhoff- Eurofighter) and the Area around inclusive Rostock. After that I will start some tests (Single, Online on different Systems to see if and how it works) . If all works I will work on other Airbases (Hohn, Jagel, Skydrstrup and Polish Bases) and building the rest of Citys and important landmarks like high ostakles and Windparks or lighthouses. All the Little important things I know from real life aviation.

How you create so large cities? Are they made as a single objectives in DB?

No- just like Landclasses.
One Tile is 1km*1km. In past I created tiles like landclasses. I did the same for objects.
Tile “Village”- Object “village”
Tile “Downtown”- Object “Downtown”
Tile “Field”- Object “small Country houses”I will strictly using the original database. I can create new 3D objects and refresh the single objects with new sortiments. But Overall it`s still the stock database.
At the end I have maybe 5 or 6 objects (could be much more) and I start to place them with TacEdit. Later - with Monster Terrain Tool - I give them the correct Tiletexture and thats it.
The Streets are the key for a good look. So you Need only 5 or six good made ground textures for streets. That is the hole trick and you can save a lot of texture space or have potencial for morer Details.

I will try to pack it for you during weekend. I will look at it sooner, but… u know “who has the time”?Just a note regarding textures - I like variations, there are 1800 tiles in this theater
When I was speaking about simplicity, I ment rather this:
left is original texture I did for my theater…on the right is something I would like to achieve (but it is for another debate…and I still like it rather as an option)…BTW I will post another picture of the crop - with airbases…we can finetune it to have as much bases u like as possible.

TomTom, you are my hero! Since Laage is my “home base” I’m realy looking forward to this theatre! Any plans to add Stralsund? I’m living there and there is a big training area just above. Sometime I see the Discovery Air A-4s and GFD L35 flying above Stralsund, would be awesome!

I came after midnight into my office and I was not able to finish it…
this is the last 64 crop position, I like (451,917 is new lower left start):
almost invisible yellow dots are airbase tiles, circles are squadrons…more detailed picture with small 128 surrounding and visible already tiled airbases(yellow tiles/dots)…u can see, we are just above the area I was focused before (AF campaign with squadrons):
unfortunally, this is current central crop I have using built in TE function :(:
just for curiosity, this is current Rostock-Laage airbase:

Nice, but tell me what campaign there? NATO vs Poland (Cold War)? I suggest move the map more to the east, get the Kaliningrad region.
