Enemy Radar Sites
-
Hello, I’ve brought this up before but at the close of the thread titled ‘IADS’ I was rather unclear as to what would result in destroying these various radar stations. I have read the RP5 Manual about this and became even more confused.
What results would one get from destroying various Radar Stations, Command Control and Communications centers just flying the campaign in single player offline ?? Also what results would yield if one were to do the same thing flying a campaign online: Radar Stations, Command Control and Communications centers in Falcon BMS 4.33 U1 ???
Please forgive me for another redundant topic but like I said I was rather unclear as to what benefits one would have if he did this flying a campaign offline in Single player mode and Multiplayer. My confusion very well have come from not asking the right questions regarding this topic. Once again please forgive me for my redundancy on this matter.

I made a few flight’s to destroy radar sites but didn’t notice any change in behavior of the enemy air operation.
-
Oh really ?? Did you destroy all or most of the sites ??

Not all, destroyed about 10-12 sites, didn’t notice any change so i stop choosing this kind of targets.
Just FYI, i destroyed the 2 tanker ship at the east sea (Korea campaign), wanted to see if it will effect the fuel graph . . . guess what, not changed at all !
Go figure

I’ve been told RP5 patch was applied to BMS but it seems as if its broken as well, that just really sucks.
-
Also, when you destroy sites like nuclear plants, underground factories and such . . . don’t seems to effect anything.

I really hope DCS is better when it comes to realism, I’ve explored so many things with BMS and the only thing worth doing in the sim is SEAD SWEEPS BAI/AI and no matter what map its all the same so repetitive.
There really has to be a way to fight strategically in a campaign and be able to see the effects from doing such a thing…I just wish there was more options of fighting the enemy and keeping him down other than destroying all of his assets. Plus one tends to get low on weapons rather quickly I’ve noticed.

The Radar Sites do have an important role to play as they provide the Radar Circles you see in 2D Map. Now, here’s the tricky thing. Most campaign creators give radar values to so many objectives (like Army Bases, Airstrips, CCCs, etc.) that in turn reduce the importance of radar sites. I mean the value "Has Radar - Calculate Radar- is given to many objectives which IRL do not have radar.
So, if you have 10 Radar Sites which are the only objectives that have a “Radar Value”, then yes, you will start to find gaps in EW coverage once you destroy them one by one. In theaters where multiple army bases and CCCs have a “Radar Value” then Radar Sites become less high value targets.
Having said that, IMHO all Korean campaigns perform pretty bad when it comes to Radar Sites simulation, because too many objectives have radar value. Additionally, the same mistake I observed in campaigns of ITO as well.

Campaign set to Ace? Try Korea Strong, or DL Korea 2012.
Lots of options for running campaign.
Maybe try a deep strike if your getting bored. I don’t think DCS will quench your thirst for realism any more than BMS. DCS has no Dynamic Campaign.

Try any campaign and completely manage the ATO, ground forces and loadouts. It’s alot of work and enables you to get the sense of owning it.
-
when you say completely manage ATO I guess you mean all squadrons correct ???
-
I mean every flight. Put all sliders to zero in ATO and all PAKs too. Now you have to manually create every mission. It’s quite rewarding.
-
-
oh ok gotcha

you can also control friendly ground units by unclicking their set by hq button and then drag their little circle to new objective. I have dcs all types and they are collecting dust. they just don’t match up as far as dynamic camp. and open world with things going on everywhere
-
True…for what its worth BMS does have that dynamic campaign engine to it however, its really broken unless you put that user interface to it and from what regev said regarding that aspect of it it seems to work out nicely being able to command and control multiple squadrons in the theater but there was one problem…AWACS, what I tried to do was put all sliders to zero and once that happened I didn’t have AWACS so I set it back to HQ only to find it reset itself back to the settings I had but I need Recon and I don’t think I’m there with the strategic part when it comes to recon.
I’m just trying to see the real true potential Falcon had with the dynamic options for running a theater that was dynamic in the first place. I did say I was a vet at Falcon but this is by far the first time I would really change things up with the AI. I’m not a programmer or a 3D Dev or what have you but I do want the real when it comes to this sim because it appears to be the capstone in my overall sim experience.

Go the extra mile my friend . . . manage awacs\jstar\tanker squdrons as well.
It is an extra time but you will have more control on time\place of the mission’s.Not everyone’s cup of tea, i know
-
As I know in case you disable all the possible radars when can track you generating interception missions is less likely or neve happen as also GCI is not available for the AI. If you fly on red side even without AWACS you can get GCI (at least happened in FF5.x), just not when you ask simply when AI gave you info.
Modeling RL GCI with real limitations is not possible currently.
-
Okay so far so good, I’ve turned all sliders down and left recon which I think AWACS and JSTARS fall under open for the AI because when it comes to those assets I dont want to **** things up so AI has that. As far as the other fighter squadrons go though I’m in day 1 and tasked a shit load of OCA strikes on major airports because last time I wasted them on radars but before what I would do was go through the OOB and disable HQ from all squadrons but doing it this way seems to be working out so far.
I haven’t flown yet but as sure as shit I tasked a lot from different squadrons and I hope it’ll work out, to whoever gave me game on the ATO…kudos to ya

Combine air bases attacks with Mission’s to destroy SAM site radars, no need to destroy the whole AD unit.
Focus first on the nearest enemy air bases to get air superiority, very important.
Make lots of CAP mission’s (hour and a half long), build a virtual wall of CAP’s mainly infront of your ground forces.
Most of the time enemies aircraft’s will make a 180 turn as they see too many blue aircraft’s in the air.
The more u will set flight’s the more gain u will get each time.
