Hello i just installed Falcon BMS 4.33 U1 on my new pc
AMD FX-8320 3,5 GHZ
RADEON R9 380 4 GB SAPPHIRE NITRO
8 GB (2X4GB) DDR3-1866 1866 MHZ
SSD SAMSUNG 750 EVO 250 GB
WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 64 BIT
MONITO 1920X 1080 144 HZ FREESYNCI wanted to ask for advice on how to recover some FPS not overly affecting the graphic
I post some screenCampaign Tiger Spirit
I 've changed as well
set g_bExportRTTTextures 0 Change it from 1 to 0. -
Firstly thank you for providing a well drafted post with sufficient info.
I run a HD 7950, similar to yours but with a little less punch.
“Jet Heat Exhaust” is the first item you can do without.
Possibly “Low Resolution for Clouds”
You can try “Per-Vertex Lighting” but in my experience leave it as is.
I don’t use “Reduced Particle System”
In the Falcon Setup Graphics Tab:
Leave the “Trees and Grass” slider at or slightly below default.
Don’t use High levels of Anti-Aliasing Falcon doesn’t need it.
Secondly Your screen shots were at the most demanding altitude & over bustiest area of the map, and with TGP & Mav up I would not expect a lot more then 22FPS in that there.
The latest Driver is not always the best, but I dont run Falcon exclusively this year, so I gave up on the 13.2 a while back.
Try this TE and just sit in the Pit of the second last flight, looking ahead no Displays showing and just the top of the Up front Control buttons showing (Com1 Com2 List ect), At between 8:53:30 and 8:53 look for the lowest FPS, Im at about 27 currently @ 2560x1440 but with Intel i5 @ 4.0 gigHz but otherwize similar rig to yours.

You can also deselect all the shadow sub-options.
-
Cloud Reflections, Focus Object Reflections, Focus Shadows and Far Rain are, in my experience, huge FPS killers.
Cockpit shadows too, but they are too cool to get rid of.

I didn’t notice tons of difference. There are still shadows from the ICP extension and such with it off IIRC.

Placebo effect? Leave me be, I’m pain free.

Well try the cure sometime and see if you notice a difference, I’m curious now

How does one get into the advanced options to turn off such effects as the Jet exhaust heat shimmer and the latter such as you posted… I gotta dive deeper into the settings of F4
I saw the Advanced Tab under the graphics menu… but I didn’t see any of those options to deselect.

The configuration editor settings that is one of the option on the load screen that you would also use to launch the actual sim.

Welp… serve it up as me being a exhausted idiot last night to graze over it on the first menu you deal with when booting up F4BMS LOL.
Thanks a lot guys ! Now to tweak around with it when I get off of work. At least F4 doesn’t take a bit to boot up… unlike FSX
lol

Ok, I tried it and see the difference. With the cockpit shadows on you do get shadows from things like the ACES II “horns” or from the other side of the cockpit in knife edge, etc. You still get a difference in lightning levels on parts of the cockpit if it is off but not true shadows. However on my system, the cockpit shadows seem kinda low res.

No problem, glad we could help. It is a little extra step than other sims.

Nothing can be an extra step vs tweaking FSX to run right on your Sim Rig… now that was hell in a handbasket

Test
FPS TE at approximately 8:53 -
I recommend using the in-sim counter which is more accurate, depending on your .key file the key combo is ctrl+z then r or alt+c then f
-
Test
FPS TE at approximately 8:53Second last flight in the list, its a single ship, Pre-Plan just sit where it spawns,
I cant get a good reading at the moment as I setup crossfire for Fallout 4 and Falcon doesn’t like it at all.

So I deactivated Far rain, Jet heat, and a few others, And Activated Low Res Clouds and reduced particles and the such… I was sitting at moderate 20 FPS parked on an airfield in the first training mission (Ground Ops). Im going to test a little bit more tho. Not sure how much of a drop I would expect in fps during combat. But that’s still a ways out since I have plenty to learn still X.X lol.
I was almost half tempted to pick up the most realistic F-16 you can get for FSX to train myself a bit better, but then that would be a $22 dollar purchase to train myself for Falcon BMS. -

While has been a lot of years since I tried an FS F-16, I doubt it will be much help since it doesn’t do any of the avionics.

My gpu is gtx950m,the fps is higher than yours. Are you sure the game running in R9 380?

If there is a hardware bottle neck it isn’t the video card, it is the CPU. While Falcon does do some 2 core multi-threading, it likes strong single cores. The current batch of AMD Fx processors aren’t the best for Falcon. I had a Fx-4350, 6300, and 8350 and when I got my I5 4690K my frames jumped up a lot. I could also make the case that despite the 6300 being the traditional best bang for buck AMD CPU, in BMS the 4350 was actually better in my tests.
