4.33 U1 crashes my computer hard

AMD FX8350/16G, NVIDIA GTX950, Windows 7 64 bit

Game appears to install and start normally. After “commit”, screen goes black. After a few seconds, speakers make loud buzzing noise, display loses input from GPU, OS appears to be completely hung - no further HD activity. Needs Reset button to restart computer.

Happens every time, no other programs running, fresh boot.

Tried stopping/starting sound service.

Tried starting Falcon with sound turned off… get a black screen, followed by crash and loss of output to monitor, same as with sound on.

Do you have other graphical Apps (Games) that run OK ?

Will it run 3Dmark ?

Falcon to operate needs a functional sound device.
Stopping the sound results to what u say u witness.

Other apps run fine: FSX, FSX-SE, X-Plane10, FSOne, etc.

My impression it is either a graphics issue - GTX950 not entering the correct graphics mode, or there is a fundamental incompatibility with the AMD motherboard. I have similar, but not the same, problems with the original Falcon 4.0. I either get a black screen or garbled video output when entering the 3d world.

If you want to run the original Falcon 4.0 it must be patched to with F4108us.exe, its about 17mg, a bit to big for me to upload.

It won’t hurt for you to do a search for a recent "Chip Set Driver Package " for your motherboard. and that will usually include a Sound chip driver.

I actually use a later version of sound Driver/App interface on my Mobo. But in my case its a functionality issue.

PS Did you disable the Intro Movie in the BMS/F4Patch configuration screen. If not please do.

Not worried about original F4… would like to be able to check out Falcon BMS though. I do have the latest driver package for my motherboard installed. Also I disabled the intro movie.

I’d just like to know how to debug Falcon BMS so we can tell what is crashing the machine.

Do you get a crash log, there are some here who have the skills to deduce what might be going on in you PC from that data.
