-
thanx m8 added it to my hotlist.
-
New release (v014).
- Added ability to select a location by name. Currently only airstrips and airbases are included.
-
Video tutorial made application a breeze! Endless possibilities with weather and this is just so easy and convenient to use.
Thanks Tyrant!

Thank you Tyrant, great app.
Tiny request, ability setting pressure in mbar values.

Beautiful tool
Thanks a lot !

Thank you so much for this wonderful program. It’s simply the best.

Awesome work Tyrant. A great tool and easy to use.
I have one question though, I am concurrently playing the new Battle for Balkans SA theatre and I have generated fmaps for day 1. Where do I copy these files to? The default weather folder contains ones I made for Korea as per the tutorial, so will these be overwritten by ones for Balkans? Can you only have one set of fmaps in play at any one time, or do these new Balkan fmaps go under the “add-on theatre Balkans” folder somewhere?
Cheers!

Each theater can have a WeatherMapsUpdates folder - the FMAP files go in there. So, for example, weather for the Balkans would go in Data\Add-On Balkans\campaign\WeatherMapsUpdates. It would be completely independent from the Korea weather, but you couldn’t have two Balkans weather systems in play at the same time. The folder doesn’t exist by default for Balkans and ITO, but you can just make one with the right name in the “campaign” folder.
Note that for KTO, it’s “Campaign/SAVE” but for other theaters it’s just “campaign”.
If you did need to quickly change weather systems in the same theater, you could create a folder called something else - say, WeatherMapsUpdates2 - and, before starting Falcon, move the existing one out of the way and rename the other one to WeatherMapsUpdates. In other words, swap the folders. Or you could copy the files in by hand or whatever. But again, it would be a manual step you’d have to remember to perform.

No problem - good luck and have fun!

FYI, I will be starting another round of improvements on this in the next…3 to 4 weeks. If you’ve been using it and have feedback, I’d love to hear it. If you haven’t been using it because of some missing feature, I’d love to hear that as well. And if you stopped using it for some reason, then I’d really love your feedback on why.

Has been working fine for me in KTO. Starting an ITO. Will report back later in the week and let you know if I run into a problem, although not expecting any. I really enjoy the random feeling of the weather. Doesn’t feel as scripted, because I’m not really creating the weather, but just picking a random spot in a weather system.
P.S. Your LSOBOT looks pretty awesome too. Can’t wait for that! :bowd:

Tyrant, thanks for the tool, I have been using it since you released it as it is easier to create realistic weather patterns then going into zyGrib and getting the real weather, which I still do every now and again. Only thing I can think of would be to add a slider to set the seed rather then punching in a random number. Currently I just go into xls and tell it to generate a random number that I then type in or just type in a random number, but I find when I type in a random number I tend to use similar numbers, hence using xls gives me better random numbers.

Ah - good idea. Would a “random” button next to the seed work? Sliders are actually sort of hard because of the computation involved - I have to play tricks to not try to update as the slider moves, since it takes about half a second to compute a new weather pattern.

A Random button w/ the option to change the number manually as it is in its current state. Yes, that would definitely be cool.

First of all, thanks for your app. Could you make it possible
- to import a fmap
- enable users of your app to change cells like Weather Commander does?

Thanks - glad you find it useful.
As far as the feature requests go, I’m not sure it would make sense to do those things. WeatherGen works by generating an entire weather system from the parameters you put in. Importing an FMAP would depart from that strategy - it would no longer be generated.
Maybe I can ask instead what it is you’re trying to achieve? If it’s just to edit cells so you can control exactly what weather you get, then I think Weather Commander is a good tool for that already.
But perhaps what you want is a way to make the weather in one or two spots exactly how you want it. This is a common need for mission planners: they like not having to determine what the weather will be everywhere, but they still want, e.g. fair conditions at takeoff and over the target, but poor to inclement on recovery. For that, I plan to implement something where you can add “weather control zones”, in which you can say things like, “Starting at 0600, the weather around Kunsan will deteriorate from whatever it is to inclement. Then at 1000, it will start changing back to fair.”
Would that work for you? If not, if you can give me a bit more context for what you’d like to be able to do, maybe there’s something I can add to the tool

I just wanted to change cells like WC, but your idea is even better. It definitely would work for me, and I bet it would for everyone else.

So far…so good in ITO. No problems to report ATM.
