New keystroke system is super confusing
-
I own a Logitech Extreme 3d Pro. Just upgraded to 4.33 and saw the new keystroke system. Problem is I cannot change anything ingame, and don’t even know how to assign strokes to my joystick such as guns. There used to be a keystroke involving guns but now the names are confusing.
It’s very hard to explain my problem, but basically it’s the annoyance between the new Excel system and the ingame system. Does anyone know how to assign guns, because my trigger used to be assigned to it automatically. Also I used to be able to search for keystrokes in the menu by the key, now I cannot do this.

The new keystroke system is super convenient!
To assign anything, you first need to know where it is in the cockpit. Go to that section in the .key file (or in-game UI) and change it. Done. Simples.
No more callbacks being all over the place. The callbacks are now assigned depending on their location, going from left-back panel clockwise all the way to the right-back panel. -
What default key file do you prefer?
Also, what key would that be for firing guns?

In the Setup –> Controllers UI, find the command you want (HOTAS 2nd Trigger Detent to fire guns), click it to highlight it, then push the Joystick button you want to assign. Do that for each button you need to assign.
I’m sure there’s info on the Setup menu in the docs folder of your install.
Also, look in the folder, x:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\User\Config for your keyfile. You can open that file [filename.key] with any plain text editor (like Notepad). You can search that file to find the ‘common name’ for most commands in that file.
Edit:
I use the ‘Full Key’, but the ‘Basic Key’ might be a good starting point.
Also, in the docs folder dash1 document …. check around pages 28 & 56 for the standard HOTAS functions and their associated commands.

I’m an idiot. Haven’t tried to play in 2 years and forgot you can bind joystick buttons separately from keystrokes. Tried to set them in the excel file, and with a 3d pro (not any of the options) I was having a bad time. Thanks!

Note that there are a few .key files (Basic, Blank, Full, Minimum, Pitbuilder) and obviously they are supposed to cater to different folks. What you use is up to you. I would guess that a person using a Logi Extreme 3D Pro (my joystick back in AF days!!) would have different “needs” than a person with a full-pit setup.
Personally, I used the Full.key file, but then modified it to fit my needs (TM Warthog with Helios and 2 touchscreens).
