New Warthog… controller reverts to keyboard on startup

Hi guys,
Warthog noob here, arrived last week. Just getting around to sorting my binds this evening, when I noticed that every time I restart BMS I have to reselect the stick as my primary controller, and then rebind all my axes for flight control and avionics. All my actual command binds on both the stick and throttle are intact.
I’ve tried editing the device sorting file to place the Stick as the first device in case this was the issue, but to no avail.
I should note that if I edit the binds/axes, then go in game, everything works fine. The issue is solely after a BMS restart.
Any advice?

Are you using target, if so you must start the script before starting bms. also check the “read only” for axismapping.dat and joystick.cal files inside \User\Config folder
