Cannot launch BMS in Win 10
-
I have 4.33 loaded on Win 10 64 bit and original Falcon 4 loaded as well. UI opens fine but when I Launch I receive a message that it has suddenly stopped working and forces me to close the program. I considered simply uninstalling and reinstalling BMS but here is the odd thing: it is visible in the File Explorer but not under my apps for removal under Settings. This would mean having to simply delete the folders but I know that isn’t a good idea. Any suggestions? I acknowledge a fair amount of ignorance with the software side of the equation. Much better with hardware.

Do not delete folders.
Stand by for help.
In the mean time post your system specs. -
I’m sure there is a better way to do this but hopefully this helps:

Sorry, I also should have said that I’ll be patient, not delete any folders, and thank you Badger!

To uninstall, you run the same set up program that you ran to install the program.
You will have an option to remove from my computer. You might try searching these forums, I know there have been similar problems and been resolved.
-
Will give it a try. Thank you Sir!
-
Sadly no joy. I was able to uninstall the program using your suggestion then tried to setup again. I receive the following:
"An unintended win32 exception occurred in Falcon BMS.exe[8100]
Should I just try to download again? Or does that statement mean something is correctable? -
Do you know how to run and manipulate your Registry??
C9
-
No Cloud 9 I don’t. However, I am quite coachable if it is something you can talk me through.

IMHO you are all completely looking to the wrong side for troubleshooting… There should be no probs with bms install, this is a known problem of current Win10 builds, might be fixed in future, might not. The solution is to run bms in window mode. Try it and let us know.

I Have the same system and this is the answer to your problem … go to your Target GUI icon Right click with the mouse scroll down to Properties left click on it go to the Short Cut tab left click on Advanced Check the box Run as admin hit ok and run the program. Have Fun
-
Thanks guys! I have a couple 12+ hour work days this weekend but will try your suggestions this evening. Really appreciate it.
-
Got the same error message when running in windows mode and when running as admin. Guess it’s back to AF.
Should I try Compatibility Mode? -
How exactly you run it in window mode?
-
I opened Properties by R) clicking the Target and added -w, then -window, then tried -windowmode just to be on the safe side. Tried this with running the program both as admin and without. Is there another way? I also tried to change Compatibility to win 8 without success and also tried the Compatibility check from the Properties window.

The thing that I’m really kicking myself about is that I just bought this computer (Have only had it one week) specifically for this sim. I only did a cursory search but really didn’t notice any red flags with windows 10. I must have only seen positive threads. Live and learn.

Don’t beat yourself up or give up too quickly.
Falcon can be finickey to get going but, will be worth it in the end.
I’m sure you’ll get some more helpful suggestions during the week. -
In the falcon setup/graphics, is your card selected?
What screen resolution is it set to?
What is your screen resolution ? -
My screen resolution is 1920 x 1080. As for the graphics and screen resolution setting in sim don’t I have to be able to Launch the program to access that? Otherwise how do I get to it? I

I had a similar issue, I ended up installing it into C:/program files. this fixed the issue. I think I probably porked my registry in the
folder. May be worth a try.
