HAVCAP patrol duration less than high-value package duration?

Imagine you have a HAVCAP assigned to an AWACS (or perhaps an ECM flight too). The AWACS can loiter 5 hours, but when adding a HAVCAP to the package, the patrol duration for the fighters is only 2 hours. I assume this is due to limited fuel.
Will BMS automatically replace the assigned HAVCAP aircraft with replacements in order to fulfill the HAVCAP assignment for the total 5 hour duration of the package?
I wouldn’t want an AWACS to get left alone for 3 hours after the fighters break station, but adding additional HAVCAP flights with offset times seems onerous. I’d like to avoid that if possible.

Add more fuel and add additional HAVCAPs as necessary to cover the HVA mission time.

… Or reduce the station time of AWACS.

With MC you can easily duplicate your flight and change Take off times and have them protect it you will need and a third flight probably.

If this a campaign where the ATO is managed by the AI, the HVAA will be protected for the entire duration of its flight automatically with flights that will CAP for 1/5 of the HVAA station time. If you are handling the ATO manually, be it in a campaign or a TE, then you have to do it yourself.

Thanks for the quick replies and information. The details regarding mission commander were helpful as well, because I didn’t even consider it before.
