Need some clarification on BMS keystroke versus Falcon 4

After installing the game, I have some trouble in getting some items to work properly on my HOTAS

One remaining issue is the using the radar antenna. I can move the cursor around the screen with my micro-stick but Tilting the radar down is a problem.
In the current setup, the command
Radar-Antenna Tilt UP - F7…works fine on my HOTAS
Radar-Antenna Tilt Down - F5…. Does not work…in fact, even if I press the key button, F7, the antenna still doesn’t tilt downward.

The numbers on the cursor will show the top number as negative, and the bottom number as a positive…(like the antenna is upside down

So how can I fix this…

One of the questions was…Am I using the BMS Keystrokes?

I figure we all are since that is what the game downloads with. I make some changes to the keystroke guide to match some commands that I already have with my HOTAS. But they are easy thinks like instead of "A for Autopilot, I modified the keystroke to be “F” for Autopilot (note, I didn’t do that specifically, just as an example). I did check to make sure that the new keystroke assignment doesn’t change something else that is needed.

So if using the BMS keystrokes a problem, then how and what do I change all the keystroke setups to. Is there a default falcon 4 keystroke that should be used instead of the BMS?

From reading your post, we cannot tell what HOTAS you are using. It may help others to answer your concern.

Didnt you mean to say…Even if you press the key button, F5?

I would recommend setting DX assignments rather than mapping button presses. Check out redbeard’s documentation in the joystick folder in your install. Kolbe’s docs are also excellent and will help you understand the DX stuff. It’s really not complicated and likely sounds more involved than it really is. I’ve got my FS/PT/PP all working flawlessly with DX assignments.

Do you use TrackIR or any program that might be reserving the F5 key preventing BMS from using it?

Make sure you test antenna up and antenna down at the same time of flight. If you test up in air and down on ground you will think down doesn’t work but you can’t move antenna on the ground (or cursors).

What .key file are you using? If you press F5 in controls setup screen does it move the list to antenna downward entry?

Federf: I made sure there is no reference in my TrackIR using F5 as a reserved key

When I go into the controller setup… I can hit F5 and the Tilt Antenna down shows up, F7 shows Tilt Antenna Up…so it is working in the controller setup in Falcon.
However, when in the air, only Tilt antenna up works. The mapping on the joystick doesn’t work nor does hitting the F5 key.

Any other suggestions? At a loss right now.

Try using F5 for another command like speed brakes toggle or something and see if it’s a problem with F5 or the radar. Similarly use something like “Keyboard A Key” for radar tilt down to see if it’s because of the key or the function.

Also can you post your .key file between CODE /CODE tags. Maybe you have it bound twice.
