Destroying 3 runway segments vs 1
In campaign does destroying 3 runway segments has any effect on the repairtime of the runway compared to just taking out one segment?
It is clear that destroying one segment of the runway is enough to disable the base.
Hope you guys have some insight here.

generally the more you destroy the longer it takes to repair
i’m not sure about the mechanics of exactly how it’s done, but i’m 99% that it’s not all done at the same time, the more you destroy the better.
If I understand correctly
Destroying 1 segment disables the base a relatively short time
2 segments destroyed simultaneously will result in a longer time for the base to be closed
And three segments destroyed in the same attack will mean the base is out for the longest possible time.
So tasking several planes on separate segments is the way to go then (depending on the loadout of course)

Rough numbers. 3 hours per span.
In bases with 2 active runways, if you destroy all spans they will repair one span at a time (3 hours)… but you will never know the order they are gonna use to fix them. Sometimes they will fix the two span small runway first… other times it wont.
Also, sometimes a “damage” status will be enough for a span to be operational IIRC.
Great info thx

Ive often been thinking about this and yet never posted. This has reminded me….
Using your rough guide of 3 hours per segment…If a runway segment is bombed say… 2 hours ago and you bomb it again…will the “timer/damage” reset to 3 hours or will the sim engine see it as already disabled and continue to wait until it is repaired?
I ask, because in the past, i have seen that an airbase is disabled but wanted to make regular visits to the area. So I would bomb it again just to prolong its inactivity.
This how it works?
I always wondered if I was bombing it unnecessarily.

I think. But im not 100 percent sure on this is that you do need an engineer battalion on site to repair stuff. So as long as they are not near any downed airfields you should be fine
In our current strong DPRK campaign we’ve knocked out all but 1 airfield so far and even the first airfield that we bombed over 9 hrs ago campaign time has still not been repaired in any way
