IVC Server on Linux (using docker)
-
Hi Guys,
Most VFS’ have some sort of a server for their “stuff”, I assume a webserver running site+forum, maybe a TS server. usually it will be on a cheap VPS somewhere running linux.
108th VFS is no different and I wanted a way to off load the IVC away from us, as upload is an issue for us and we struggle as is with BMS requirements.Running IVC server on Wine is very very straight forward. Nothing fancy or new here, However the dependency list is long and annoying (on ubuntu 16.04 it was ~250 packages using almost 1GB of diskspace). IMHO, it’s waaaay too much for running a small piece of code like the IVC. I figured that a blackbox running IVC would be preferable for me. I went with docker and had it up and running shortly after and we’ve been using it for months now.
However, as I was thinking about publishing it, I suddenly realized that the way I had set it up was cluncky and cumbersome and would not be what I would call “Noob friendly”.
So I set on a road to streamline the process so that a person doing his first steps in linux would be able to get it up and running for his squad.
I believe I achieved my goal as on Ubuntu 16.04 and for CentOS7, as except from copying over IVC files running the install script there is nothing else to do and IVC will be up and running

This must be a dream, let me wake up… OUCH!!! I wasn’t dreaming then!!!
THANKS so much mate, this is a great idea and a very valuable one: I am looking forward to try it on our own server.
By the way, you have a new follower on GitHub and a new star rose up on the repo, too.
