Using F4ResTool to add custom squadron patches
-
I’m stuck.
I’m following this guide -> https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?8850-Tutorial-Creating-and-Adding-Squadron-Patches-to-your-Install…and I get everything up to the point where it says to “Save/Pack the patches.idx file”
Ok, how exactly?
I’m choosing the f4restool/patches folder where I extracted patches.idx as my work path since I added a custom patch .tga image and edited the patches.irc file.
When I try to pack back to patches.idx using that work path, it either doesn’t change anything in patches.idx or it shrinks the file so it’s missing over 80% of it’s patch data. What’s the secret to making this work? Does the method described in that guide not work for 4.33?

Get one patch out and look at the size. It must be the exact same, else u get what u got.

Arty, the patch I made is 96 x 96 in 16 bit format, as the guide instructs.
