Adding the Shrike to BMS
-
Can someone possibly tell me how to add the Shrike to BMS U2 using LOD Editor F4Browse ?? I would like to use the shrike more than the HARM and besides I’d rather get used to using it more and more but it isn’t available in the Load-out screen.

The Shrike is in the game, but some planes can’t carry it or just don’t carry it anymore because it’s outdated…
You can add it by open the editor which comes with BMS, then choose the plane you want to add it, double click it, press on a hardpoint, press “View”, scroll down until you see “0 no weapon 0”, press it, press “select weapon” then search the Shrike, press ok and press “+1” and save. then you have to do the same with the other pylons

Whats the name of the editor is it LOD Editor because I downloaded that and F4 Browse and just pointed F4 Browse to the Falcon file it needed to pull up everything from the sim, I just figured it out actually in F4 Browse and just added it that way thanks to the guy had did the tutorial on youtube. I have it now and I’m actually about to download the Israeli Theater and put some radiation missiles in there too. Truth be told I know Obama had just given Israel the HARM back in 2013, but I know Israel had to have a better way to destroying Air Defenses other than using bombs alone right ??

Run the Falcon BMS .exe and before click launch click on editor

Nope … Israel used Shrike from the 80’s and later Standard ARM, Before that Iron-Hand was done using bombs and balls.

Israel has the best airforce in the world hands down.

I am not sure if any real F-16 can carry Shirke.
And those missiles are not like HARMs IRL, they had different seeker variants for different frequencies.
In BMS they behave like HARM that seems to be incorrect.
And OFC Shirkes IRL was not able to remember position of enemy radar so they was wasted if radar was switched off while missile inflight.
AFAIK they had no INS so no POS mode should be available, only firing at emitting radar. -
Shrike is configured on the ground to attack a specific SAM radar freq. Once fired, if the target radar shuts down the missile follows a ballistic path. If the radar turns back on and is still within the seaker limits then Shrike will require. However, it has no INS systems and it’s chances of hitting a radar that has shut down is pretty slim (read near non-existent) … to be honest Shrikes chances of hitting a radar emitter is pretty low at the best. Shrike also has quite a small warhead on will only really damage the radar antenna array.
Standard ARM was an improvement allowing the missile to locate and attack a wider range of missiles. It also had a bigger warhead so could potentially damage a radar more extensively. However, it still lacked an INS system and acted the same as Shrike if it lost the radar.
The Israeli’s carried these missiles on the F-4 Phantom airframe only as far as I know.

Thanks Frederf I did it using F4Browse already, I’ve found another way to very accurately fire the Harm/Shrike using HTS as a reference lock up the emitter and get the ranging and bearing of the threat. Then I slew my SPI to the right bearing and range and fire the Harm using EOM mode and I get 100% hits. When I use the HAS mode I use PB and RUK because the HAS mode does give you a range depending on the FOV being used. But rather limited hence the PB or RUK. Then I fire POS either RUK or PB whichever is more appropriate, but I always slew my SPI to the threat. Very fun that way and I get a better understanding as to the conditions to type of threat and circumstances of the battlefield.
I never ever make PPT Steerpoints on the UI for SAM threats if I’m out Weaseling because the element of suprise is another fun factor that will make you understand tactics, conditions, circumstance of the battlefield better.
